Overnight rain continued to affect Scotland, Northern Ireland and
northern England. This rainfall was particularly persistent and heavy
at times across the northwest Highlands. It was a mild night and dry
for most parts of Wales and southern England. The rain fizzled out
across Scotland by mid-afternoon resulting in clearing skies and
afternoon sunshine. Northern England remained cloudy with further
rain through the day whilst the rest of England and Wales enjoyed a
mainly dry day with warm, hazy sunny spells. By the late evening a
band of generally light rain began moving into the Isles of Scilly
and then into the southwest of England.
Daytime temperatures were above average in most parts and well above
average in parts of the southeast of England, making it the warmest
day so far this year.
