A band of rain again crossed from west to east during Thursday, though not quite clearing northeast Scotland until late in the day. Showers followed, locally heavy and thundery, with torrential downpours reported in some places. Drier conditions reached the southwest later in the day. Temperatures were around normal. By evening, it turned drier over the whole of the UK, although high cloud pushed in from the west ahead of the next area of rain.
