Last Five Days

Today began rather wet over southern counties of England and Wales as a slow-moving front associated with a area of low pressure in the English Channel swept from east to west during the morning. Although drier and brighter in south-east England by the afternoon, showers continued in parts of south-west England and West Wales into the evening. Mist and low cloud across much of the rest of England and Wales cleared slowly during the morning, allowing bright or sunny spells to develop for the afternoon and temperatures to return to near normal values in most areas. It was somewhat cooler near the North Sea coast, however, thanks to a moderate north-easterly breeze. Northern Ireland saw a mainly dry day with variable, and often large, amounts of cloud, some of which was thick enough during the evening to give a little light rain. The north of Scotland experienced another dry with sunny spells. The south of Scotland saw rather more cloud with some light rain over the Southern Uplands and limited brighter spells. Temperatures were below normal in the south-west, and near, or slightly above, normal elsewhere.
