It was dry for most during the night although there were a few light showers along the east coast. A rather cold day generally with plenty of cloud and just the occasional sunny spell. Showers fed in over north- facing coasts and across eastern parts of England and Scotland, with some hail. The showers continued this evening, these most frequent to the north and east of Scotland. Elsewhere it stayed dry and cloudy, however prolonged clear spells developed across Scotland, northern England and northern Ireland which caused temperatures to fall rapidly.
