A band of heavy rain cleared the southeast of England during the early hours of Sunday morning with blustery showers following to western parts of the UK, along with some sunny spells at times. Some of these showers were heavy and thundery at times and some fell as sleet and snow over the hills. It was dry with sunny spells for a time over eastern England and eastern Scotland to start but scattered showers spread to these areas during the afternoon, with sunny spells persisting in most parts too. Temperatures were around average for this time of year. The day ended with pressure falling rapidly as rapid cyclogenesis took place west of Ireland.Rainreach Northern Ireland, southwest Wales and southwest England before midnight. Gusts around 50 knots were recorded in cornawall, Devon and Wales. Flash Warnings from the Met Office were in force for winds to 75 mph, heavy rain, snow for some parts of Scotland and from the Environment Agency for coastal flooding around southwest England.
