Last Five Days

Overnight it was generally cloudy with outbreaks of rain, drizzle, mist and low cloud, although it was drier in northern Scotland with clear spells. It was very wet in places, particularly in central and eastern parts of Scotland, and it was also another warm night, especially in southeastern England. Then during the day there were some more outbreaks of locally very heavy rain across central, southern and northeastern Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of northern England and Wales. In addition to this another area of locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms moved across East Sussex, Kent, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk during the evening. However despite all this rainfall many places across central and southern England had a dry day, and some sunshine broke through locally, especially in southeastern England. Another area that escaped largely dry was the far northwest of Scotland. The afternoon temperature was warmer than average across the southeastern quarter of England but generally closer to average further north and west. However, it was distinctly cool across central and eastern Scotland in the rain.
