During the early hours of the morning, heavy showers affected parts of northern England and the Grampian area of Scotland, while elsewhere across the United Kingdom it was largely dry. Through the course of the morning, the heavy showers in the north gradually moved across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and out to sea, to leave a mainly dry and bright day across the United Kingdom, with a sparse scattering of light showers. One or two sharper showers cropped up across eastern Scotland and southeast England during the afternoon, though nothing of great significance. Most parts then had a dry and cool evening with broken cloud, although it did turn overcast and rather wet across Cornwall and later Devon. Cloud also thickened across the north of Scotland during the evening, though only bringing drizzle here. Maximum temperatures were generally near or just below the seasonal average.
