The
skiing reports used by the BBC Weather Centre come from the Ski
Club of Great Britain, based in London. They send data for 214 resorts
around the World every week day afternoon at around 2pm.
The Ski Club has reps in all of these resorts who have been
skiing on the slopes that day. They are trained to assess
the snow and weather conditions within the resort and provide
a unique, hands-on report of the conditions. The reports are
therefore based on actual conditions rather than forecasts,
so you can see for yourselves the present conditions at all
resorts.
As well as being used on the BBC Weather Centre website, ski
conditions are also available on Ceefax page 420. We have
three Skiing Weather programmes on BBC television every week.
These can been seen on Thursday evenings on BBC News 24 at
8.57pm, on BBC One at about 11:30pm and during Sunday Grandstand
on Sundays on BBC2 (check television schedules for exact times
each week).
