And now the Shipping Forecast issued by the Met Office, on behalf of
the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, at 1130 on Monday 30 November 2009.
There are warnings of gales in Tyne Dogger Fisher German Bight Humber
Thames Dover Wight Portland Plymouth Biscay Fitzroy Sole Lundy
Fastnet Irish Sea Shannon Rockall Malin Hebrides Bailey Faeroes and
Southeast Iceland.
The general synopsis at 0600:
Lows Wight 988 and Fisher 990 both moving away southeastwards by 0600
tomorrow. New lows expected Southeast Iceland 992 and 200 miles west
of Rockall 971 by same time.
The area forecasts for the next 24 hours:
Viking North Utsire South Utsire east Forties:
Northwesterly 5 to 7, becoming variable 3 or 4, but southerly 4 or 5
later in west Viking. Rough or very rough. Squally wintry showers,
fair later. Moderate or good.
West Forties Cromarty Forth Tyne:
Northerly 5 to 7, occasionally gale 8 at first in Tyne, backing
southerly 5 or 6 later. Moderate or rough. Squally showers. Good.
Dogger Fisher German Bight Humber Thames Dover Wight north 6 to gale
8, occasionally severe gale 9 at first in Wight, becoming variable 3
or 4 later. Rough or very rough, becoming slight or moderate later in
Thames, Dover and Wight. Squally showers, mainly fair later. Good.
Portland Plymouth Biscay:
North or northwest 6 to gale 8, occasionally severe gale 9 at first in
Biscay, backing south or southeast 5 to 7, perhaps gale 8 later in
Plymouth and Biscay. Rough or very rough. Squally showers, rain later.
moderate or good.
Fitzroy Sole Lundy Fastnet Irish Sea:
North or northwest 5 to 7, backing south 6 to gale 8 later. Moderate
or rough, occasionally very rough in Fitzroy and Sole. Rain or squally
showers. Moderate or good occasionally poor.
Shannon Rockall:
Variable 3 or 4, becoming south or southeast 7 to severe gale 9,
veering west 6 later in Shannon. Rough or very rough. Fair then rain
or squally showers. Moderate or good occasionally poor.
Malin Hebrides:
Variable 3 or 4, becoming southeast 7 to severe gale 9. Rough or very
rough. Showers then rain. Moderate or good.
Bailey:
South 6 to gale 8, backing southeast 7 to severe gale 9. Rough or very
rough. Occasional rain or sleet. Good occasionally poor.
Fair Isle:
Northwest backing southeast 5 to 7. Very rough becoming rough. Wintry
showers. Moderate or good.
Faeroes Southeast Iceland:
Southwest backing southeast 6 to gale 8, becoming cyclonic in
Southeast Iceland. Rough occasionally very rough. Occasional rain or
snow. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor.

This file is updated 4 times a day at or after approximately 0015, 0505, 1130 and 1725. It is read out on Radio 4 at 0048, 0520, 1201 and 1754 (local time). All broadcasts are on LW on 1515m (198 kHz) and some transmissions are on VHF. You can also listen using the link on our website. It gives a summary of gale warnings in force, a general synopsis and area forecasts for specified sea areas around the UK. The radio bulletin also includes the coastal weather reports (0048 and 0536 only) but these are not currently available on our site.
