Sailing Sites with Useful Links

Yachting and Boating World
Magazine site with lots of news and views, and buckets of useful information including a good weather section with Met Office content.
Yachts and Yachting
Useful site for links.
UK Dinghy Racing
Extensive list of links relevant to all types of sea goers and the Weather Information section contains some good simple but clear explanations on cloud types, weather fronts and pressure systems (although quite hard to see because of the overpowering background colour - best printed off on a b/w printer!).
UK Sailing Index
A site dedicated to providing links to companies and associations connected with all aspects of sailing.
Boatlaunch
Great site with information on marinas and slipways around the UK, including prices and facilities details. Quite lengthy to load but worth it.

Weather Resources

NOAA - Ocean Prediction Center
This site has a range of charts for the Atlantic and Pacific - mainly concerning the US seaboards but some of the Atlantic charts are of use to UK sailors.
NOAA - National Data Buoy Center
Observed weather data as reported from buoys around the world including those around the coasts of the UK and France, through the North Sea, English Channel and nearby northest Atlantic. Some of these are published in our Buoy Observations section (see nav on right).
Irish Marine Institute - Buoy Data for Ireland
Observed weather data as reported from 5 buoys placed around the coasts of Eire.
Westwind
A fantastic site which lists links to weather data resources all over the world. Links are listed clearly and neatly and a search can be performed for almost any type of data for any European country. Best to read the 'Help' first!
Theyr
Forecast model data displayed according to the user's choice of location and data type. Lots of combinations available and charts are colourful and easy to read.
Dundee Satellite Receiving Station
Run by Dundee University this website provides images which are mostly free to view once you have registered, worth doing for the quality and range of images available. (Some satellite images are also available on the Met Office's website under 'Weather and Climate'/'Satellite Imagery').
Ant Veal's UK Weather Centre
An enthusiast's huge and comprehensive links site (with advertising) not specific to sailors but useful collection of links to models, webcams, data and so on.
Weather Online
UK version of an excellent German site with many weather products available. The mariners' section contains a range of useful data and forecasts from a range of sources.
Wetterzentrale
Another German site (in German but easy to navigate) with an excellent and clear range of links to model products and charts. Follow the TopKarten link if confused.
XC Weather
This site takes hourly observations and graphically represents them - a useful tool to view the current conditions.
Wendy Wind Blows
This is a chain of automatic weather stations at various sporting/leisure locations in the UK which you can phone or access on the web. There are only 14 coastal 'Wendy' stations, all in England and Wales, and mostly on the English Channel - so mainly useful for the sailors of the south.
NWS Internet Weather Source - UK
Simple unfussy site where you can look up the most recently observed weather conditions and the past 24 hours data for the UK (and other locations worldwide).
Magic Seaweed
Aimed at surfers, UK weather and surf information in map and graph format taken from a range of sources.
