Geoff Leaf joined the Met Office in 1959 and has been based at Dunstable, Aden (where he was Forces Broadcasting assistant), the base at RAF Leeming, the London Weather Centre and the Met Office College, at Shinfield Park, where he taught forecasting.

In 1974 he left the Met Office and acted as consultant to companies carrying out forecasting in the North Sea. From 1982 to 1990 he worked in the Gulf and Saudi Arabia and then rejoined the Met Office at its HQ in Bracknell.

In 1992 he took up a post as senior forecaster at RAF Waddington. His interests include classical music and cricket.
