Elizabeth was born in London but spent much of her childhood in the Middle East where her parents were working. It was there that she discovered her love of the sunshine, if not the weather!
At school in High Wycombe, Geography lessons provided her first introduction to weather as a field of study which was followed up by the inclusion of several weather-related modules in her Geography degree.
She graduated from UCL in 1999 and spent several months travelling in South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Spending a night in a flimsy beach hut while Tropical Cyclone Tessi raged overhead on the Queensland coast was certainly an eye-opener and helped make up her mind that what she really wanted to do was to forge a career in weather forecasting.
After returning from her travels, Elizabeth applied for a job with the Met Office and began her Forecaster Training in December 2000. After completing the training programme she joined the BBC as a Broadcast Meteorologist. She now presents weather bulletins for all the BBC TV channels and radio stations.
Elizabeth is passionate about good health and nutrition and has been vegan since the age of eighteen. She loves cooking for her family and friends - especially the die-hard meat-eaters who are nearly always impressed! She keeps fit and active with regular swimming, cycling and running around after her young children.
