Mid-life crisis?

BBC Radio Newcastle is exploring the issue of the mid-life crisis in a week-long series of features and it wants to hear your thoughts. Find out more here.

If I say "mid-life" will you say "crisis"?

What does mid-life crisis mean to you? Is it different for men and women. Have you had one?

How do we change as we get older. How does middle age impact on our bodies, our attitudes and our relationships?

We may be familiar with the stereotype of the fella who changes from a dependable hard working family man to someone who, when he reaches about 45, trades in his lady for a younger model and splashes out on an extremely fast set of wheels - be it a motor car or a motorbike.

You can bet your bottom dollar that his friends and family are discussing the fact that the old mid-life crisis is rearing its ugly head.

From 16 March 2009, on Mike Parr at Breakfast, we will be looking at middle age: why for some it's a crisis and others simply glide through unscathed.

Dating game

Just some of the areas we will be looking at include:

*Body changes - does it go downhill after 30 or are we fitter than ever as we have more time and maybe money to look after ourselves?

*Does mid-life affect men and women differently? Is it possible to slow down the effects of middle age?

*Back on the dating game - embarking on a new relationship, how do you find a date, who pays and do you invite him in for coffee?

*We will also be looking at a general body MOT, vanity, the grey hair debate - to dye or not - getting rid of the glasses and going under the knife in the process.

*We will be looking at invisibility in the work place - changing careers after 40 years old.
