Fireworks displays 2008

Find out where the nearest fireworks displays are on Tyneside, Wearside, County Durham and Northumberland.

County Durham

*  At Aykley Heads in Durham. There's a bonfire from 7pm and a fireworks display from 7.30pm.  There will also be fire service displays. It costs £3 for adults and £2 for children, under 5s free.

Contrary to earlier information, there is NO display at Massive Attack Paintballing Centre near Seaham.

Sunderland

*  Ashbrooke Cricket Club is playing host to its annual firework display, the largest organised display in Sunderland.  Gates open to the public at 6pm where you can enjoy a funfair until the fireworks start at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 each and you can pick them up from the Ashbrooke Sports Club, Sun FM, Sunderland Echo offices, The Bridges shopping centre customer service desk and Sunderland Tourist Information Centre.

*  There's another display at Hetton Lyons Cricket Field in Houghton Le Spring. You can pay at the gate from 7pm, £2 for adults and £1 for Children. 

Newcastle

*  From 6.30 there have free music and fireworks at the City Stadium and Ouseburn Community Centre.

*  From 7pm there will be fireworks at Newburn Leisure Centre, just off Grange Road. There's free entry but there will be a collection on the gates to help cover the costs.

*  There will be free fireworks, again with a collection, at Elswick Park, off Beech Grove Road in the west of Newcastle. Starts 7pm.

*  Gates open at the football pitches off Broadway West in Gosforth at 6.30pm. There will be a charge of £3 for adults and £1 for children.

*  There's free entry at Walker Park in Walker.  Starts at 6 o'clock.

Gateshead

*  It's free entry at the event in Barmoor in Ryton, which starts at 7pm with a bonfire then a firework display from 7.30pm.

*  It's free entry at the Oliver Henderson Park in Felling, also starting at 7pm with a bonfire then a firework display from 7.30pm.

*  Saltwell Park's event also starts at 7pm with a bonfire then a firework display from 7.30pm. Free entry.

Northumberland

*  The Field at Allendale is hosting an event from 7pm. Adults £1 and children 50p.

North Tyneside

*  Segedunum Roman Fort and Museum are hosting a display from 6.30pm. The entrance fee is £2 for adults and children. 

Please note: Event information may be subject to change or cancellation, please check before travelling. There are also some events taking place over the weekend.
