Welcome to BBC RaW's Family Story Festival!

A fantastic free weekend festival jam-packed with fun with hands-on storytelling activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Date: 27 and 28 October, 10 am – 5 pm
Venue: Mowbray Park, Sunderland

The festival brings the wonderful and wacky characters from BBC RaW's Max & Lara's Amazing Travelling Space Circus family activity pack to life!

Lara - RaW character

Lara

You can follow Max & Lara's adventures in a new series of story books. The four story books and the family activity pack will be available to collect at the festival and best of all they're free!

Fun storytelling activities will be available for all to try – from quick and easy story writing workshops, animation to puppetry, trying your hand at news and match reporting and much, much more! Costumed Max & Lara characters, jugglers, clowns, face-painters, storytellers and local BBC radio are just a small taster of the entertainers featured on the day!

The festival will be travelling to eight locations across the UK throughout September and October 2007, spending a Saturday and Sunday in each location.

RaW is the BBC's biggest ever campaign that aims to help adults across the UK read and write better.

RaW is for everyone (did you know there are 12 million adults in the UK who struggle with reading and writing)? However, there is a special focus on families. If you have kids and you'd like to help them read better, or you'd like to read them better stories, RaW can help.
