Money issues can be worrying
Manage your money
By Action Desk producer Jennifer Bartram
If you don't know your APR from your AER, or your ISA from your TESSA, then CSV Action is here to help!
If your mortgage has got you in a muddle, or you're confused by your credit card, then you're not alone.
Most of us have concerns about money at some point in our lives, so it's important to try and understand the concepts and the jargon around savings and debt.
The average household debt in the UK is £54,124 including mortgages and, even more worryingly, there are more credit cards in the UK than people, according to APACS the UK payments association. At the end of 2005 there were 74.6 million credit and charge cards in the UK compared with around 60 million people in the country.
Radio Newcastle and CSV Action are helping you to take your first steps towards taking control of your money and finances.
If you would like to get more information on how you are charged interest on your credit cards, how different types of mortgage differ, or simply get an explanation of the financial jargon you've come across, then we are here to help.
During the week commencing 9 July, Radio Newcastle will be featuring hints and tips from financial experts on how you can manage your money more effectively, and advice on where to go for help.
