Craig Price and Julia Hankin
Craig Price and Julia Hankin

Jesus Christ Radiostar!

Julia Hankin escaped the BBC Radio Newcastle studios to visit the Sunderland Empire which is currently staging Jesus Christ Superstar. Listen again to her interview with lead actor, Craig Price.

It's not everyday an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical comes to town, so when BBC Radio Newcastle's Julia Hankin was invited to present her show from the Sunderland Empire and go behind the scenes of Jesus Christ Superstar, she jumped at the chance.

The rock musical tells the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth.

The show first opened on Broadway in 1971 and was launched in London's West End the following year. Since then, it has been staged in over 15 countries.

Julia caught up with Craig Price to find out what it's like to have the lead role in such a popular show and to see if she could blag a part in the show herself!
