RECAP of Ep 13 Last Scene: Seb being caught by Shash and the gun being pointed at him.

SEB (VOICEOVER)

I wanna be alive to have kids and see them grow up. I don't wanna die.

INT. CLUB, CLOAKROOM - NIGHT

LEILA is still in the club cloakroom with JEROME

JEROME

(peeved) Do you have to call him?

LEILA

Yes. It's your fault we're in this mess, remember?

She dials PAUL's number on her mobile. The phone rings and PAUL picks up.

EXT. STREET - NIGHT

Paul is standing in the street. The two locations are intercut.

LEILA

Paul, it's Leila.

PAUL

Leila! Listen, I'm sorry about before. I really -

LEILA

I really need to talk to you.

PAUL

Great! Why don't we meet up and start over?

LEILA

No! I mean, we're in big trouble.

PAUL

(shocked) You're pregnant? But we never even -

LEILA

No! I need your help. We're -

PAUL

So it's someone else's baby?

LEILA

(exasperated) Paul, will you listen to me? There's a drugs scam going down at the club and Seb's in big trouble! They're holding him at gunpoint!

PAUL

(stunned) You're joking! We've been investigating this for ages. Text me Seb's number and I'll do a GPS trace. I'll call you straight back.

INT. CLUB, CLOAKROOM - NIGHT

LEILA puts her phone in her pocket. JEROME glares at her.

JEROME

(grumpily) Happy now you've called your fancy policeman, are you? Want him to put you in handcuffs? Want to see his helmet?

LEILA

(flirty) Yes Doctor. But only you can make my heart beat faster.

INT. VERMIN VINYL - DAY

Lewis enters the record shop. Ed and Mono both get up and hug him.

LEWIS

That lightbulb still doesn't work, we're still understocked and no one's bought that Pantera boxset yet. Ahhh... it's so good to be home.

They all laugh.

ED

Good to have you back, mate. Or should I say, 'amigo'?

He and LEWIS have a mock-fight.

LEWIS

Listen, there's something I have to tell you both. This'll probably come as a shock, but... well... I've realised that... er... I'm gay.

ED

(looking amused) We know.

LEWIS

What? Since when?

ED

Since forever.

MONO

Yeah.

ED and LEWIS both turn and look at MONO in shock. MONO doesn't even realise he's spoken, he mimes, "What?"

INT. CLUB - DAY

LEILA gets a call back from PAUL.

LEILA

Paul!

Jerome yawns loudly in the background. LEILA gives him the finger.

LEILA

Great. Give me the address.

She sits poised with pen and paper, then looks shocked.

LEILA

You're joking.

ANIMATED OBJECT: PHONE

FROM: JACK LACEY
TO: RACHEL TAYLOR
Great job Rachel! You've just been selected to represent the team in the 100m. Keep this up and you're a dead cert for Beijing! Jack

EXT. PAVILLION, STREET - DAY

RACHEL jumps up and down in the street, ecstatic.

RACHEL

Yesss! Yes, brilliant, fantastic!

Her phone bleeps again. She frowns.

RACHEL

Oh what? Please tell me it wasn't a joke.

She reads the message.

ANIMATED OBJECT

FROM: LEILA AHMED
TO: RACHEL TAYLOR
Rach, Come to Charlie's flat, and quick. Something big's happening! Leila

EXT. CHARLIE'S FLAT - DAY

There is police tape and a gathering crowd outside the flat. LEILA stands there with her notebook.

A handcuffed SHASH is brought out by police, protesting and struggling.

SHASH

Hey, man this ain't right. I'm not the brains behind this outfit. I been set up to take the fall.

He is forced into a waiting police car. SEB is brought out by PAUL. LEILA runs up to them.

LEILA

Paul, Seb's innocent. He helped Rachel and me out of the warehouse.

PAUL

If you're sure.

LEILA nods. PAUL releases SEB, who gives a sigh of relief.

PAUL

(To SEB) You'll have to come in to give a statement.

RACHEL rushes up to SEB and hugs him.

RACHEL

Oh thank God! I was so worried.

SEB

So worried, you'll forgive me and go back out with me?

RACHEL

No, not quite that worried.

They laugh.

INT. TAXICAB - DAY

CHARLIE arrives home by taxi, talking on the phone.

CHARLIE

Yah, and Daddy said that - oh, oh my God, you won't believe the size of this crowd! I must have been so popular on the show. You see, I knew it would happen!

EXT. CHARLIE'S FLAT - DAY

SEB sees CHARLIE arrive, and leans over to RACHEL.

SEB

There's CHARLIE. She's in for a bit of a shock.

CHARLIE steps out of the cab, smiling and waving. No one looks at her.

CHARLIE

(loudly) Cooee, it's me!

Just then, ALAN is brought out of the house by two policemen, one of whom is PAUL. Alan's hands are shackled behind his back.

ALAN

I am innocent! This is a stitch-up of epic proportions!

CHARLIE runs up to them.

CHARLIE

What are you doing to my Daddy? Where are you taking him?

PAUL

To the police station. I'm afraid he's been arrested for money laundering and the handling and selling of Class A drugs.

CHARLIE

Daddy, is this true?

ALAN holds his head up high, defiant.

ALAN

Of course it isn't, Princess. I was that close to winning the mayorship of this town and now the establishment has turned on me. I've done nothing wrong and I intend to prove it.

He is bundled into the police car. CHARLIE stares after him, shocked. She wipes a tear from her eye. The crowd hushes, and CHARLIE realises she's surrounded by photographers and video cameras. CHARLIE turns to face them.

CHARLIE

You know, I don't care what you think of my Daddy. What you write about him, or what you say about him. Because he's been nothing but kind to me my whole life since Mum died. And that's what matters. He's a good, kind, sweet person, and everything I do, I do to make him proud of me. So you can take your cameras and your notepads and shove them up your noses. Goodbye.

All the Wannabes applaud. The Press look annoyed. CHARLIE gets back into the TAXI. It drives off.

EXT. CHARLIE'S FLAT - DAY

PAUL walks up to LEILA.

PAUL

It's really good to see you again.

LEILA

Really? I betrayed you, remember?

PAUL

Yeah, but you also said some really nice things about me. You said I was so fit you'd want to snog me senseless whatever, even if I was a fishmonger who shaved poodles in the evenings. So how about some hot fish-poodle action?

LEILA

You certainly know how to chat up a girl, don't you?

Her phone bleeps with a text message.

LEILA (CONT.)

Oops, excuse me a second.

ANIMATED OBJECT: PHONE

FROM: JEROME LALANI
TO: LEILA AHMED
Leila honey! It's only been an hour and I'm missing you already. Please give me a ring. Jerome xxxx

EXT. CHARLIE'S FLAT - DAY

LEILA (PTC)

Wow, from having no boyfriend, now I'm being chased by the two sexiest guys in Brighton. So who do you think I should go out with?

BLIND-DATE-style music starts. Clips of JEROME appear on the screen (from previous scenes).

LEILA (VOICEOVER)

Should it be Jerome, Doctor Love, the hunky medic who brings romance from France? He claims that he truly loves me, but also tried to use me to make Rachel jealous.

Clips of PAUL appear on the screen (also from previous scenes).

LEILA (VOICEOVER)

Or should it be Policeman Paul, the gorgeous good cop who likes going undercover? He's an honest cop, but should I let him steal my heart?

Clips of LEILA engaged in journalistic activities appear on the screen (from previous scenes).

LEILA (VOICEOVER)

Or should I concentrate on my career? With today's major scoop, the crime job's bound to be mine. I'm going to be so busy uncovering scams and nailing villains, am I even going to have time for men?

She dials a number on her mobile. We hear the phone ring, then connect.

LEILA

Hello, is that Marie Claire? I have a story...

Leila is on the cover of the magazine with the headline: "My amazing life in Brighton!" She speaks from the cover.

LEILA (PTC)

When I arrived here, I had a suitcase and fifty pounds to my name. I didn't know anyone, and I didn't have any contacts. It's been a long hard slog - I've made enemies, got into fights, been accused of treachery and spent a long time without a boyfriend. But with a lot of determination, hard work and pig-headed stubbornness, I've got everything I wanted - six great friends, my dream job as crime writer at the Brighton Evening Argus and a story in Marie Claire.
