What you need:

  • A white bed sheet, about the size to fit a double bed.
  • A low hanging branch.

1. Find a tree with a low hanging branch about 4ft above the ground.

2. Open out your sheet underneath the branch so it covers the drop zone.

3. Shake the branch for one minute. Be careful not to step on the bed sheet.

4. With the help of a friend, grab a couple of corners each and carefully move the bed sheet away from the tree.

5. Check out all the different kinds of insects, spiders, bugs and caterpillars that have fallen from the tree.

6. Use a magnifying glass to get a closer look. It's amazing what you'll find!

Remember! After you've finished, carefully shake off all the mini beasts onto the ground beneath the tree so they can find their way home.
