1990
The North Wales coast is battered by the storms of 1990 Mountainous seas and hurricane winds beat relentlessly against Britains coast in 1990, leaving havoc and destruction everywhere. North Wales took the brunt of the weather and in Towyn waves breached the sea wall. As neighbours rushed to help the elderly caught up in the devastation, police and fire brigades came out in force, using small boats to ferry people and pets to higher ground. Many families had to sleep in temporary shelters, and the main Towyn railway line was completely submerged.
