1982
The biggest snow falls in nearly 40 years The legendary snows of 1982 affected Clwyd and Powys in Mid Wales particularly badly. The M4 came to a standstill; passengers were airlifted from a train stranded in North Wales; a pregnant woman was airlifted in Cardigan; international tenor Stuart Burrows was airlifted from Cardiff to London to appear at Covent Garden; the roof of Sophia Gardens pavilion in Cardiff collapsed. And on Snowdon, there was plenty of snow for skiing.
