1945, 1970
The death of the great British statesman and former Prime Minister David Lloyd George retired from the House of Commons in 1945, after 55 years as MP for Caernarfon, as Earl Lloyd George of Dwyfor. Two months later, on 26 March, the stateman who had led Britain through World War I was dead. He was buried as he had requested on the bank of the Dwyfor. Flat stones from the river surround his grave at Llanystumdwy near Criccieth, his boyhood home.
