1927
Cardiff City beat Arsenal at Wembley Stadium On 23 April 1927 the FA Cup came to Wales for the first time when Cardiff Bluebirds beat Arsenal 1 - 0 at Wembley Stadium. The only goal was scored by Hughie Ferguson and was the result of an oversight by the Arsenal goalkeeper, Dan Lewis of Maerdy, who let the ball slip through his hands and into the net. The team returned to Cardiff to a tumultuous welcome. Hundreds of people lined the streets to cheer captain Fred Keenor and his players as they drove in an open-top car to meet the Mayor on the steps of the City Hall.
