Two Polish ex-soldiers farm in Camarthenshire The documentary Borrowed Pastures tells the extraordinary story of two Polish ex- soldiers. When Eugenius Okolowicz and Vlodek Bulaj, who bought Penygaer, a derelict farm in Camarthenshire, neither had farmed before; Okolwicz was a surveyor and photographer, Bulaj an electrician, and while Bulaj had a smattering of English, Okolowicz had none. Over the years, their only contact with the outside world was via a travelling grocer, six monthly visits from a Polish priest, and a telephone used for emergency calls to the vet.
