Wartime radio in Swansea: Tom Pickering recalls the war years in the studios of the 5SX Swansea relay station By 1937, the single studio in Oxford Street was too small for the BBC in Swansea. The new studios at Alexandria Road were described by the South Wales Evening Post as the best in Europe outside London. When World War II came, only the West Wales Singers' weekly service Y Gwasanaeth Gosper continued broadcasting from the city. In February 1941, Swansea was blitzed. Tom Pickering, the West Wales Representative, recalls those days.
