  • All about Christian in the SW Hall of Fame...

Michele of Texarkana, Texas, USA, says:
"Yes, I am a fan and have been one for many years now. The man is a great actor and is simply mesmerizing onscreen. He needs to do some 'lighter' projects from time to time, though. Just to show off his range.

    Trina of California
"I simply can't get enough of him. I hang on every word, every sexy, smouldering glance of those gorgeous hazel eyes.

"I recently bought a copy of the March issue of GQ magazine, I couldn't wait to read about him, and then I saw him in those sexy designer suits. Wow! This man is sexy!

"Then I ask myself, why is it that he doesn't get barely a mention in any of the celebrity news shows here in the U.S.? His talent is clearly overlooked, and often unacknowledged. I'm so looking foward to the day I see him get his star on the Hollywood "Walk of Fame". He deserves it, and dammit, he has more than earned it!!! I love you Christian, always and forever."

    Jeni of Leeds
"Yes - he is sex on legs - yes he is a great actor, but most importantly when acting this guy actually makes you FEEL what his character is playing. All your famous ones - Tom Cruise, Orlando Bloom even the beautiful Mr Depp cannot live up to Mr Bale - ACTOR in capitals!"
    Crysta of Wyoming says:
"Christian Bale is the ultimate male. Newsies was one of his best movies and I have been infatuated with him since then. I would love to meet him, although I think I would faint upon seeing him! Christian Bale, if you read this, you are gorgeous!!"

Sheraven from Denver, Colorado, USA says:
"My favorite Bale movie is Equilibrium for the excellent and difficult performance of subtle emotions in a world that has outlawed feelings. I look forward to more leading roles from him."

    Tess of Sweden says:
"My favourite Christian Bale movie is Batman Begins!"

    Trina from Los Angeles says:
"Hello BBC Wales!!!! My name is Trina, I came across your website while searching for info on my new fav actor, Christian Bale. I am a huge fan, and I'm glad to see that your fav son is so well-loved and admired in Wales. Although I'm proud to be an American, I've always been fascinated with the Brits. From the Beatles to well Christian, Thank you again for this site, I look foward to visiting a lot more in the future. Thank you for sharing one of your most talented, and handsome products with America. I'm mad for Christian Bale!!!!"

    Toni from Gillingham says:
"Christian Bale is one of the most talented actors this country has seen. Always thought so, but The Machinist, which I recently saw, just blew me away. Still sexy, even with the weight loss. Would love to see him in a comic role. Brilliant in the serious roles, but with such a cute smile, who could resist watching him in a role with a lot of laughter?"

    Susan Stewart of Aberdeen says:
"I saw my first Christian Bale film after my husband said I would enjoy it (something I think he quietly regrets now). American Pshyco is my favourite film, though I have a lot of his other titles, Laurel Canyon being another fave."

    Gianella from Texas says:
"I believe Christian Bale is a very talented actor, and very devoted to each role he plays. Christian Bale is in my opinion is one of the best actors of our time now. Besides he's gorgeous and very very attractive. I think that he is sweet for helping animals and for taking in stray dogs and cats. I hope to see him in other great films to prove to everyone his talent that comes out in every role :)PS: He was the best Batman and looked the best too!!!"

Helen of Rochester is another fan:
"I first saw Christian in Empire Of The Sun and thought he was excellent, ever since I have been a massive fan. My favourite films of his are Reign Of Fire, Equilibrium, Empire Of The Sun and now Batman."

    Emma of New York says:
"I thought my husband was mistaken when he told me that Christian was from my home town of Haverfordwest, but he sent me a link from your website which not only proved him right but gave me a wealth of info. on CBs acting career (thank you BBC), now I'm going to go and rent all his movies. Batman Begins blew all the other Batman movies away - amazing!"

    Francesca of Las Vegas says:
"Oh my god, I'm Christian Bale's no.1 fan of all time!! I have seen every single movie he has been in. From Empire of the sun to Batman Begins. My favorite movie of all time is Newsies! When I first watched Newies, I fell in love with him. The next day at school, I went up to all of my friends and told them how very, very, hot you were. But they did not belive me until Batman came out. Then when I came home that night, I went to the movie store and watched every one of Christian's movies. The second I heard the new Batman movie was coming, I made a promise to myself that I was gonna see it the first day it came out and I did! My no.1 dream of all time is to meet the famous Christian Bale. One day I hope that dream will come true. I can't wait till you come out in all the Batman movies and the 007 movies. You know I'm gonna see it the first day it comes out!"

    Sarah of Bremerton, USA says:
"I've been a fan of Christian Bale ever since 'Newsies'. I have, however lost, contact, if you will, with him for the last few years. But my interest has rekindled since 'Batman Begins', and have rented his more recent movies like 'American Psycho'. That movie was incredible and showcased his incredible talent. And of course he's absolutely beautiful!"

    Rachel of Coventry just says:
"Who cares about his best film... he's gorgeous!"

    Rebecca from Winnfield, Louisiana says:
"I'm definitely one of Christian's biggest fans! I have been crazy about him since Newsies came out when I was 4. I know every word of that movie, when I was younger, I was always telling everyone that I was going to marry Jack Kelly (Christian) one day! I can't wait until Batman Begins to come out next week!"

DeAnna of Stanford University is a new fan of Christian:
"My friends and I at Stanford University first encountered Christian Bale a few weeks ago when we rented Newsies, and became devastatingly obsessed. Since then, we have been working systematically through his oeuvre, deciding the order in which we rent the films based on how attractive he looks on the covers. We think he is a fabulous actor (his dialect work is phenom!), and we are eagerly anticipating Batman Begins!"

    Emily from Birmingham says:
"Bale is a very dedicated actor, and as I have only seen a few movies of his I am a newbie to his following, however my favourite movie of his is The Machinist. It shows a level of dedication to an art that can be seen as fickle in the media... and it is also a superbly acted thriller that left me speechless."

    Lynne from Dallas says:
"This man is mesmerizing - he is a true feast for the eyes, to delight in gazing upon his every nuanced glance. The acting, the face, the body, the voice, all make him one of the most intriguing actors of all times."

Nancy from Virginia is a massive fan of Christian:
"My three daughters and I are firm believers that Christian is one of the best actors we've ever had the privilege to watch in a movie. Once the USA comes to that realization maybe they will show his movies in all the theaters and not just selected ones. We always have to wait for the DVD. He will blow all the other Batmans out of the water, and will continue to make smart choices for juicy roles. Our favourite parts? Arthur in Velvet Goldmine, Partick in American Psycho, Jack in Newsies and Bobby in All The Little Animals. We spent two weeks in Southwest Wales last summer, it being our ancestral home, so we felt pretty close to him while we were in Haverfordwest."

    Jacqueline from Stonehouse Scotland says:
"I think that Christian is one of the young talented actors of our day and I'm sure he'll go far. However I do feel that he is slightly underrated and is not being offered the film leads he needs to push him further. Other than that I think he's great!"

    Ali from London thinks:
"Christian Bale is a brilliant actor. He has amazing screen presence and is damn sexy too! Equilibrium is my favourite CB film. Anyone who hasn't seen it yet, go and see it asap."

    Nike in Maryland USA says:
"I think Christian is a fantastic actor and it has been really amazing to see his career soar from the time he was a kid in 'Empire Of The Sun'. What is a real treat is the fact that he is Welsh, so I'll take that vicarious relationship since I'm kinda Welsh too!"

Luna a Brazilian living in London discusses Bale's new role as Batman:
"I love Batman for being a super hero that is actually not that super ... in the sense that he seems to be the most human of heroes ... the way he deals with darkness and the good he wants to make of other people, his wealthy and personal belongings. I went to see the first Batman film and waited in a queue for about two hours back in Sao Paulo when I was 13 and since that one I've been waiting for a film that would bring the real essence of Batman to the screen. I'm sure this will outshine the first one for Christian has the gift of giving so much through his acting. His breath taking allure is only a bonus with all he has to offer ... I'm glad a real actor is getting the recognition he deserves. Go for it! I'm counting the days to see the film."

    Susan likes watching Bale's movies:
"He is a good actor. He is also very sexy and cute. I like his voice. Too bad that we weren't compatable b/c of our signs from the horoscope. Anyways, I will enjoy watching more of his films."

    Patricia from Brazil says:
"Christian Bale is my favourite actor, he is wonderful and simply very extraordinary. Chris I love you!"

Can you help answer a question from Glenn of Southport?
"You learn something new every day. From the lost boy in 'Empire of the Sun' to 'American Psycho'. I would appreciate a reply from anyone who can confirm or speculate that the inclusion of Welsh in 'Empire of the Sun' was to reflect Christian Bale's Welsh roots."

Nancy of St Louis, Missouri, USA, is a firm fan. She says that he's one of the best actors around, and her choice of his best film is:
"Newsies. I saw it in my Social Studies class one year and loved it ever since."

Jen's agrees with most of our users about which is Christian's top movie:
"My favourite Christian Bale movie is Newsies!"

Tiffany of West Babylon New York emailed us with this message:
"I couldn't be more pleased with your decision to create a Christian Bale forum to accompany his place in your Hall of Fame! As a long time Balehead, I've held on to the belief that eventually this most talented actor would get his due. Thank you again!"

Dawn of USA has this to say about Christian:
"Christian Bale is an extremley talented and versatile actor. My favourite movie of his is Newsies. I saw Newsies when I was nine, and I have been a follower ever since. For me Newsies says that we can achieve anything if we really try. It is a feel good movie, with singing and dancing. Empire of the Sun is quite amazing too, watching how well a 12 year old child performs in the movie and carries the film. It takes your breathe away."

Janni of New Jersey thinks Christian is a 'good person':
"Christian Bale is my favourite actor. He's not only extremely gifted as an actor but by all reports is a decent human being with a real concern for our planet. It's always nice when your hereos turn out to be worthy of your respect. My favourite movie of Christian's is All the Little Animals. Christian played Bobby the young mentally challenged man with subtlety instead of a more obvious but less effective 'over the top' approach."

Sharon of Wisconsin is a massive supporter of Christian:
"I've been a fan of Christian Bale's since 1987, he's one of the best actors out there who carefully selects his roles. Empire of the Sun was powerful and emotional. Newsies to me was the best one, as we saw Christian singing and dancing. Swing Kids was also very good. I want him to know that I'll always be a fan of his for as long as I live. Congrats to Christian on Reign of Fire!"

Natalie has this to say about Christian in Reign of Fire:
"I am a recent Christian Bale Fan after seeing Reign of Fire. It's a great movie with fantastic special effects used to create a feeling of reality and make the audience believe anything is possible. You leave the theatre wondering if dragons existed centuries ago. Christian Bale's presence on screen is like no other. He sets himself apart as a true actor, to himself and what he does. He makes you want to believe, and you actually do. You suspend your disbelief into his character and his world because you feel what he feels."

Jennifer says that we couldn't have chosen a more deserving nominee to focus on than Christian Bale.
"I think Christian Bale is one of the most talented, interesting and dedicated actors the U.K. has ever produced. If I had to choose just one of his many films as my favourite, I would have to say it is definitely Metroland, directed by Julian Barnes. Thank you for allowing his fans an opportunity to contribute, in some small way, to his induction!"

For Harrison Cheung - his favourite film is:
"AMERICAN PSYCHO. It's a wicked satire about American materialism run rampant in the 1980's. And wickedly, it stars an English actor as the "American" psycho and it was written and directed by Canadian-born and British-educated Mary Harron. If only all our horror films were this witty."

Sarah Stephens of Ontario Canada started us off with her thoughts on Christian Bale's films:
"My favourite Christian Bale film would have to be Empire of the Sun. It's such a beautifully shot picture, and there's so much heart in it, so much emotion. And it's a different sort of war film, told from a child's point of view. It's too bad it was was so poorly received when it came out, because it's such a powerful film, flaws and all."

Roxanne Marquez of Los Angeles fully agrees with Sarah:
"My favourite Christian Bale film is Empire of the Sun because of its point of view of a young boy who was accidentally abandoned by his parents during World War Two. It's a beautiful film and as a 12 year old, Christian does quite an impressive job."

Tia Hamilton thinks that Velvet Goldmine is an excellent film:
"My favourite Bale movie is the little known Velvet Goldmine. Directed by American Todd Haynes, it chronicles the Glam Rock movement in London in the early 1970's. Bale plays a fan, who later becomes a reporter investigating the death of his favourite glam star. Bale's character, Arthur Stuart is really the glue for the entire movie and Bale gives a moving emotional performance."

Autumn Gieb is another fan who loves Empire of the Sun:
"My favourite Christian Bale movie is Empire of the Sun. I don't know what it is about it, but I have loved that movie ever since my parents took me to see it in the theatre. I was only five at the time, but something about that movie stuck with me. I guess it was the idea of a little boy on his own, which has never happened to me. For some odd reason I wanted to be Jim, to live in a camp away from everything you know and finding out what it means to survive."

Many fans think that Newsies is Christian's best movie and this includes Alycia Detvay:
"Mine has to be Newsies. It was the first movie of Christian's that I have seen and it's just so cute. I also really enjoyed Empire of the Sun. I think Christian should have received an oscar for that role. He really carried the film. Anyway I've been a fan of his for about ten years and I look forward to every performance he tackles. He always brings something special."

Katherine Lansbery has this to say about Newsies:
"I would definitely have to say Newsies. That was the first movie I saw with Christian in it. I have been a huge fan ever since I saw that movie. He is very talented and I admire him a lot for it!"

Emily - known as 'Veggie' - tells everyone about Christian:
"My favourite Bale movie has to be Newsies. I remember seeing this actor and thinking 'god he's hot'. It was the first movie that I saw (him in) and it made me an incredible fan of his. He is a true role model and has a great soul. My family and best friend love him. I tell everyone about him."

Colleen Johnson is another fan of Newsies:
"I was on your website and I just wanted to say that Christian Bale is my favourite actor of all time and my favourite Bale film is Newsies. It is my favourite because he sings and dances in that movie, and my favourite kind of movies are musicals. Christian is a very extraordinary person and his accents are adorable."
