Emily from Washington State says:
"I think that Catherine Zeta Jones is one of the most talented actresses I've ever seen. The fact that she can sing, dance, act on stage or on film just takes my breath away. She's absolutely amazing, and definitely a source of inspiration for me and many others, I'm sure.
I'm also very impressed and happy that she and her husband do so many charity-related things, and still have time for family. Truly amazing...this is the kind of person that people should look up to."
Kit van Cleave from Houston TX says:
"Take heart, people of Wales! Catherine Zeta-Jones' problem when she first got to Hollywood was that she was too talented, too tall, too beautiful, and too smart. She bowled over the H'wood executives and they simply didn't know what to do with her. Often called "Zeta-J" in the US, Catherine has simply walked her path and taken charge of her career in America, while maintaining her family life. No doubt that now she is considered one of the most bankable stars in the States."
Matthew of Swansea has this to say: "Swansea has every right to be proud of Catherine Zeta Jones, she hasn't forgotten her roots. A true superstar with a talent Swansea hasn't seen before. This lady has, at every opportunity, promoted Swansea throughout the world. Having a home here has certainly endorsed the fact that Michael and she intend Swansea to be a base for their family. When they are home they spend time with charities that they support which isn't always covered by the press, thats the measure of a true star. Good luck Catherine and may both you and Michael continue to enjoy your visits home here at Swansea."
Malama of Fiji Island says: "Ever since the first time I set eyes on Cathy, I think she's the most beautiful lady on earth, more than a goddess. She's one of my favourite actress and I will always cherish her. Your beautiful..."
Margarita Perez of Wisconsin
says: "Catherine is great actor and a great women."
Amy from Cupar is a fan of CZJ: "Catherine is a great actress and I have seen most of her films she is also a great singer and dancer. I saw her at all star golf and got her autograph!"
Arthur from Swansea has met CZJ: "Catherine Zeta // Mrs Douglas. My family and I spent a good fair time at a charity event of which Catherine is patron. The Douglases are nice and very friendly as long as the press stays away. We took all the pictures we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble, Micheal is a regular guy easy to talk to, so is Cath. They were just great. A lovely family. Lovely children."
Daniel from Belfast recall's an early tv appearance of CZJ: "I remember seeing Catherine in the first episode of 'Darling Buds of May' and she took my breath away, she was so beautiful! I've been a fan ever since. I think she is a true movie goddess, what a babe!"
Gesine from Brazil says: "I just want to say that Catherine is my fav. actress and the Welsh should be proud of her. I've never heard anything about Swansea before, now I know alot about it, and also want to visit Wales as soon as possible. She never denied where she came from, even at the Oscar's night she dedicated her Oscar to the people in her city. I think it is beautiful , so you should all be proud of her..."
Diana from the Phillippines says: "Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas are the most romantic couple in the world. I love both of them. I'm always for them."
Terry from Swansea asks for space for CZJ and her husband: "Hasn't she done well. What I must say is, she must be given some 'space' when she and her husband (Mr Zeta Jones) come home to Swansea, or she will just stop coming, and who could blame her. It must be extremly difficult for her and Michael because of their fame. So please leave them alone, so they can get around and see the real Swansea. I firmly believe this will happen, as Swansea people I believe, are above that sort of thing ... hopefully! So here's to Zeta and Michael. Come and enjoy yourselves, and good luck to you both."Also Terry says: "I feel I must reply to Sarah from New York - Michael Douglas' wife? We have all thought Michael Douglas was Zeta Jones' husband ... Mr. Zeta Jones, if you like ..."
Lee from Christchurch NZ says: "CZJ is one of the most beautiful and talented actors Britan has ever produced, never mind Wales. There are alot of people out there who are just simply jealous of what she's achieved. The best of British and Welsh luck to her always."
Lauren from Leeds says: "Catherine is one of the greatest actresses in Hollywood, she can sing, dance, act and not to forget she is an absolute stunner. When she said that $1 million wasn't a lot to her, well what do you expect her to say, I mean just take a look at how much she is earning. Catherine's a role model as well, I mean when I'm older I want to become an actress and I totally see her as my idol. She's my idol because if you look at her background and where she's come from she has achieved so much. Wales ain't going to get anyone better, I'm telling you that now."
Pat from Barry would like to put a question to Catherine: "Is Dylan enjoying the Welsh pony which the Welsh Pony and Cob Society presented to her. Can he rise to the trot yet, and is the pony ok, have the children got any other pets?"
Steve from Flint, MI USA says: "Having had an opportunity to talk to her, I don't see any truth or accuracy in claims that she's arrogant or that 'she thinks she's better than everyone else'. I found her to be a friendly (and very beautiful) person."
Jade in Brighton says: "I had a great laugh reading what you all have been saying, I mean you don't even know Catherine and your already judging her, I mean if she was to read this wouldn't you feel embarassed arguing where she came from. I mean how pathetic."
Georgie from West Yorshire is a fan of CZJ: "I think Catherine is an excellent actress and role model, although she does get a lot of unfair critism and I hope she carries on making excellent movies."
Robert from Resolven says: "I would like to state that the last few people to make a comment here (I think) are plain! You don't think that millions of people in the world are thinking the same thing as you? Let's show some support! We all want Wales on the map and I think this is one of the ways to do it ... At least she is trying to state Wales is a country of it's own! Anthony Hopkins deserted Port Talbot and became a resident in America. The kind of attitudes shown in the last few messages show that we need to support actors/actresses in Wales and not push them away!"
Lisa from Pembroke says: 'Gill from Pembrokeshire said 'I really appreciated how on the BAFTA she said 'Oggy oggy oggy oi oi oi'."I don't appreciate that at all. It was fake, and I bet she never said anything so 'common' before in her life... In my opinion the people that look up to her have their own selfish reasons, like they want to be a famous actor themselves, or say she promoted tourism in Wales. Most people in the USA still don't know where Wales is, or that it exists either. They think Wales is in England."
Suzy from Stourbridge is a fan of CZJ: "Catherine is a dedicated hard worker, but I believe she is so successful because she is a star of the 'old' Hollywood mode. Always lovely, always glamorous ... and how nice that she is British!"
Rob from Swansea says: "I think Catherine should take a leaf out of Sir Harry Secombe's book. Never forget you're Welsh, your true home village and don't put on a phoney accent. It makes me cringe."
Lynda from the Isle of Man says: "In my opinion CZJ is just an average actress who was lucky enough to marry the lovely Michael Douglas. She would not be famous if she hadn't got the 'Douglas' name."
Gilberto from Luanda/Angola says: "I'm a CZJ fan, Catherine went through a lot and she deserves the award, I am sure there is more to come. It does not matter what other people say. In fact they will always say things. I love her life with Michael, how many couples out there are like them? I think she is a very strong woman, pretty, supportive and a real mother - that is why you don't hear anything about divorce in their family. How many celebrities out there get married today and tomorrow they're doing the paperwork to divorce? So Catherine is just what she is and she will always be the same. Keep it and God bless you."
Nikki from London supports CZJ: "Catherine has worked really hard to get where she is and she deserves it. She is my hero and I have looked up to her for a while now. I don't really care what other people say because we have our opinions but having had major personal troubles for quite a few years, having her to look up to has literally saved my life. She is an amazing woman and she will be acting in films for years and years to come."
Richard of Swansea says: "Just in reply to Myfanwy of Cardiff, if you have ever lived in Swansea you would understand why it's frustrating to hear the whole Mumbles thing."
John of Ferntree Gully Australia is a fan of Catherine: "Catherine was great in the 'Buds of May', for me that is her greatest hit, she really is a great person and deserves all she wins."
Myfanwy of Cardiff says we shouldn't criticise Catherine: "I think Welsh people need to get over themselves. You don't see comments from other people bitching about what part of the Mumbles she comes from. She is Welsh yes and from Great Britain. Try walking in her shoes for a few days and see how good a job you do. Somehow I don't think any of us are in a position to criticise."
Ausuee from Bangor in North Down Ireland says: "Boy there are a lot of jealous people in the UK and they all seem to start their jealous ramblings by saying ... I am not bitter or anything but ... I have never heard such nonsense written by supposedly intelligent people. Good luck to CZJ and may she have the wealth and riches and fame and happiness that we all desire ..."
Jayarine in Colombo says: "I think that Catherine Zeta Jones is the most beautiful woman in the world. I pray that she can cope with the trauma facing her. May Allah bless and guide her always. Prayers and blessings from Sri Lanka."
Robert in Kingston Jamica supports Catherine: "There are all types of people around, some of us just find it hard to be happy for the success of others. But Catherine take the negatives as learning tools and continue to inspire those of us your life and accomplishments have touched."
Gill in Bristol (nee Swansea) says: "For the record, CZJ was brought up in Treboeth. I lived there on the same street as her (also, Dean Saunders, former Liverpool striker lived there). So she's not a Mumbles girl. She used to be in a local dance troupe, and that's where it all began. So really I think she's more of a stage actress, and did have some success on stage in the West End before TV and film. Be fair though she has a talent for accents ... how many other actors can go from Welsh to American to English in the space of one film!?"
Ron from Colorado Springs says: "I liked Catherine best in that great series 'The Darling Buds Of May'. Even then I thought she seemed too good for the part. I suppose it was her young simple beauty that caught my eye, and also she was slimmer in those days. Keep it up Catherine!!"
Amy from Malaysia says: "I think Catherine is doing perfectly fine with her private life and career. She juggles it really well and I'm sure she is still on a learning stage. I think that everyone deserves to be given a chance to live their life according to whatever way they want it to. Thus, her fans ought to give their full pledge support to her. On this, she will continue to blossom to become an even greater person."
Rose from Swansea replies to Nicki: "Nicki from Swansea is being a village snob when she claims that Catherine is not from Mumbles. Sorry to disappoint you but Mumbles community stretches beyond the village into Mayals, as evident from the Mumbles Community Council noticeboard perched at the entrance to Owls Lodge Lane, Mayals."
Nigel from Newcastle isn't a fan of CZJ: "I think that it is a shame that an actress that was once great has now become the cause of the British decline in the film industry here in England. Not only has she married into Hollywood royalty - Michael - she has also reduced his fame by taking over. She is now a star and there is probably a divorce in the pipeline now she doesn't need Mike anymore. That's a shame really 'cos he has obviously fallen in love with a Lady Macbeth. I sound like a bitter little guy, but I am not, it's true, CZJ is now part of the 'cross the pond crowd' and has lost her roots. FYI - she totally never deserved that oscar, just 'cos who her husband is!"
Richard from Swansea has this to say: "Just to clear things up for everyone CZJ comes from the Gendros in Swansea not the Mumbles as she keeps saying. I would have more respect for her if she remembered and wasn't ashamed of her TRUE roots. I would be mad to doubt her looks but ..."
Matthew from Swansea remembers Catherine: "I remember CZJ because I was in Dumbarton School with her. At that time you'd never have given her a second glance. More a case of being in the right place at the right time if you ask me. It's amazing what affluent parents ... can do."
Vicky from Haverdfordwest is not the greatest fan of CZJ: "My view on Catherine Zeta Jones has never been a good one. She's over-rated as an actor. The fact that she has stated before that 1 million dollars, to her, is nothing, I think, shows her for what she is. She is so arrogant and I've definately seen and know of prettier and more gifted actresses."She constantly tries to be something she's not. I feel that her actions outside of her profession deprive Wales of pride as she's so un-aware of the real world. I agree entirely that the way the press portray Catherine as the girl from the valleys is very stereotypical, but I don't think of that as a bad thing. Are we not proud of our valleys? Are we so eager for our land to be flat? Take it with a pinch of salt!"
Aaron Shariff is a fan of Catherine: "I believe Catherine is the sexiest female alive she's so beautiful. The fact that she's from Wales gives our country so much pride. She is the best actress. I hope she makes a raunchy film in the summer. Keep it up babes."
Anthony from the Rhondda discusses the planning row associated with CZJs new house: "I see a small business being run by the builder of the estate where CZJs parents live is being threatened because this high and mighty woman thinks she is better than everyone else. I'm glad Swansea's councillors have stood up to her and finally put this arragant woman in her place. Deal with it, she's just an actress and not a very good one at that."

Anna from Parkersburg is a fan of CZJ: "I think Catherine Zeta Jones is brilliantly beautiful and talented. She certainly is my role model and my reasoning for wanting to become an actress. Her enchanting performances in Traffic, Entrapment, Chicago and Intolerable Cruelty are simply outstanding. She truly is a Welsh beauty!"
M. Brandt from Canada simply says: "YYYAAAWWWWNN!"
Katherine from Monkton replies to Bob's comments: "I agree with Bob that journalists are lazy in reference to CZJ by calling her "the girl from the valleys". These are journalists who have probably never seen the splendour of Wales. As we know, the UK weather forecasts broadcast from London also do not appear to know where Wales is either. Do not forget though, Bob, that with your sarcasm you are also accentuating their stereotypical views by referring to the closed coal mines. Unfortunately nowadays coal mining is merely a distant faded memory in the valleys of Wales. What a stroke of luck that CZJ has other talents that she can call upon instead!"
Bob from Bryncoch is not impressed with the way Catherine is covered by the media: "If I hear one more lazy journalist say that Mrs Douglas is "the girl from the Valleys"...what is it with these people? Why are they so happy to stereotype Wales and the Welsh in a way that their so called journalistic ethics would stop them from doing about other countries? CZ-J may have worked hard to get where she is, but she didn't have to climb out of the coal mines to do so..."
Gemma of Neath says: "Ok, she claims to love Swansea and she's some 'big star' but would she really have become so popular if she hadn't married Douglas? Nobody knows but who are we to pass comment on who she is? Do any of you even know her?"
Jenny from Menlo Park thinks that: "Catherine is a really nice person. She worked really hard to get where she is now. I think she deserved the Oscar. She is very talented. So talented that she was on Broadway as a young teen. No one should look down on her. She is very kind and loving."
Emily from Birkenhead says: "Catherine is the biggest inspiration in my life. I admire her so much for all her talents and beauty, and I hope that I can be like her when I am older. I am an inspiring actress and she is my only role model. She more than deserved her Oscar and other awards - anyone who disses her or puts her down is a fool, they just don't even realise how hard she must have worked and are jealous because their sad little lives can never match up to hers. They obviously have nothing better to do than to put down Catherine who is so much more successful than them, just because they are jealous. I think she is the most beautiful woman in the world and I am proud to be her number one fan. I was at the Baftas last year and I know how happy she was to receive her award. You go Catherine! I am so please for you!"
Nikki from London stands up for CZJ: "I think that the comment Nicki from Swansea made was a bit harsh. It is a hard business to break into and the fact that Catherine has made it, shows she has talent. You should be proud of her. I think the reason she is called the Mumbles girl is because as I said earlier she is a household name now, and she isn't from the USA. She has loads of talent and she has a large fan base and I will stay here defending her for as long as I need to. Catherine has done alot for me and people should just give her a break."
Nicki from Swansea is annoyed by how CZJ is described: "As I am a person who was born in Mumbles and spent most of my life there, I think on times it is a bit of an insult to us Mumbles people when CZJ is referred to as a Mumbles girl, when to my knowledge she has never lived in the village and was not born there. Her parents live in between Mumbles and Swansea and only now has she built a house there. To be quite honest most of us are sick and tired of hearing about her exploits and how fantastic she is. She is rammed down our throats at every opportunity, and if she could act it would help!"
Carmin from New Zealands says: "I think she did deserve an award but not for Chicago. It was an appalling flick. Her acting in the picture Chicago was boring - she played the role like a child."
Bob from Bryncoch writes in response to Stephanie: "Stephanie, I couldn't agree more. Why, if I met Mrs. Douglas I'd probably throw up too!"
Stephanie from Nevada, USA admires Catherine: "I think she is the prettiest, most talented, and luckiest woman to walk this earth. She has a career she loves, a husband who loves her, and vice versa two really cute kids, and family support! What more could a woman want? She is my idol and I look up to her so much, I think that if I ever got the chance to met her, I would probably faint or throw up from being so nervous. If I only had like a day to live I would like to meet her and hang out with her for the whole day! Dylan, Carys - you guys couldn't get any luckier."
Elizabeth from Maidstone says: "I think Catherine is fab. Some people think that she doesn't deserve the oscar she won, but she did deserve it totally. She is hopelessly devoted to her husband Michael Douglas and her two adorable kids, Dylan 3 and Carys 7 months. So I say keep going Catherine you deserve everything that you get."
Artemiz is inspired by Catherine: "I really like Catherine Zeta-Jones and she has truly made me see what talents I have. I am going to one of the best acting schools and I also sing and I have had experience in modern, jazz and ballent, I am now starting tap. I am quarter Welsh and I would love to get in touch with her. I hope someone sees me acting/singing/dancing, so I will get more successful!"
Nikki from London thinks Catherine is an excellent actress: "Catherine has a wide range of acting skills - the difference between Chicago, The Haunting, Americans Sweethearts, Blue Juice and the list goes on. I am just saying that she will not have to fall back on Michael because she does well be herself. People should have more faith in her. I do and I will carry on backing her. She is an amazing person and a great actress and we should be proud of her. I know I am."
Sarah from New York says that Catherine needs to develop her dramatic acting skills: "Although Catherine gave an excellent performance in Chicago and wowed the crowds with her brilliant singing and dancing, this movie musical 'craze' we are presently in is not going to last long. Catherine will have to develop her dramatic acting skills (which I've been less than impressed with) for future critical acclaim. It will be imperative that she carry a dramatic movie the way Merryl Streep or Nicole Kidman can. If she doesn't, she will fall back into the title of simple 'Michael Douglas' wife"
Nikki of London is a fan of CZJ: "Catherine Zeta Jones is a very talented actress I just wish I could be as talented as her. It is hard to break into the acting business and like a fool I'm trying to, but she has made it and she is doing really well and she has so much to show. I just wish people wold give her a break and just sit back and look at what she has done to get to where she is (and I don't mean getting married to Michael Douglas, because if you look at them you can see they love each other). She has done well and I can see that, it's a pity that some people only believe the bad rubbish they read in the press."
Bryn isn't convinced of Catherine's talents: "CZ-J would struggle to be the best actress in Pobol Y Cwm, never mind any other level. Yes, she may have worked hard to get where she is, but my binman works hard to clear the bins every day. Don't mistake perspiration for inspiration..."
Sophia of Aberdeenshire loves Catherine: "I think that Catherine Zeta Jones is the best actress I have seen. She deserves every award she receives. She is my idol and role model. She is great!" Bryn of Haverfordwest says: "Gosh, CZ-J has a film out, and gosh she's in Swansea. Quelle surprise! Obviously 'Sinbad:Legend Of The Seven Seas' needs a push in the UK ..." Spfia has this to say: "I agree entirely. Ms. Catherine Zeta-Jones is a wonderful actress and a sensational woman, obviously very dedicated to her family and it is outrageous to presume she would use her family to 'market' her films. She is proud of her Welsh roots and we should all be extremly proud of her!" Nikki from Londons disgrees strongly with Bryn from Haverfordwest: "I think Bryn from Haverfordwest has no idea what he is on about. Granted everyone is entitled to their own opinion but unless he works for CZJ, he doesn't know how much time she has between filming and seeing her family. I don't know what anyone else thinks but I don't think any actor would go visiting in the middle of filming a film, therefore after the film is done she visits. Can't people give the poor girl a break, she is a nice person and a great actor. I don't care what anyone else says. Catherine rules 100%." Bryn from Haverfordwest has an observation on CZJ: "You can tell that CZJ doesn't have a film out at the moment because she hasn't visited Swansea. Anyone else spotted the connection between her hugely publicised visits to Wales and the films she has out at the time? She should be ashamed of herself, using her family over here as marketing tools." Miss R from Swansea has her reservations on Catherine: "I think Catherine has made the people of Swansea very proud in so many ways. She is georgeous and talented. The unfortunate thing is when comments like 'one million pounds isn't that much' really makes you wonder if she has an ounce of common curtesy. The fact that the majority of Swansea would consider a million pounds a good amount to have 'laying around'. We all work hard for what we have, and it's annoyed me so much that someone who is suppose to respect Swansea and everywhere else for that matter, has come out with a comment like that. Think next time Catherine! But well done on what you have achieved." Matthew from Neyland sends congratulations to Catherine: "I would just like to say congratulations to Catherine and Michael on their new baby and good luck for the future! She should ignore all the negative opinions that people say about her and go for what she enjoys in life! And she is Welsh she will alway be Welsh and I bet she's proud." Tasneem from Kuwait is a fan of Catherine: "I think Catherine is great she seems like a lovely person and is absolutely gorgeous!" Nikki from London wishes Catherine well: "Congratulations to the whole family on the new addition. Don't listen to all the name callers and immature people out there, I will be behind you 100% in what you do. My love to all the family ..." Tim from Flint is a fan of Catherine: "All I can say regarding Catherine Zeta Jones is that I think she is fantastic, hard working and deserves all she aquires through her work. What's more, it's brilliant that she has not forgotten her roots and she has put Wales and it's culture on the map, especially as most people in Hollywood think the UK is 'England'! Good luck to her, (she's georgeous as well!)." Miss G from Florida sends best wishes to CZJ and family: "Congratulations Catherine and Michael on your daughter. You have a right to sue. Ignore the 'naysayers' and name-callers. Envy and jealously are rampant in the world. Best wishes to the new 'little one' and the whole family." Kit from Texas is a big supporter of CZJ: "Chicago could not have been made without CZ-J; it's a dance show and whatever other talents they may possess, Gere and Zellweger are not dancers. Anyone who has seen this film knows that it's Zeta-J who brought the air of professionalism to it; the Oscar, BAFTA, are righteous awards. But why are the Brits. so upset about the $1 million and which the Douglases got paid for the wedding snaps? That money went into Dylan's trust account, and is set aside for him to learn to give it to charity when he reaches 21. Americans are baffled when the British start tearing down the very talents they helped achieve stardom. And as to the Hello! trial, someone has got to do something about creating privacy laws, and it was brave of Zeta-J to undertake that, knowing how much heat she'd take. No one protested the idea of limiting the scandal sheets and stalking photographs after Diana was killed." Dina from Illinois sends her congratulations to Catherine: "I admire Catherine with all my heart and I believe that she is the most talented woman in the world. What can't she do? She can sing, dance, act, she is beautiful ... and it seems to me to be a very loving, caring person. I'm so excited she had her baby ... I always knew it would be a girl! Congratulations!" Hester from Holland is over the moon on hearing Catherine's good news: "Oh my god! It finally happened! The little girl is born! I'm so happy for them. I hope they will enjoy their little girl a lot and of course don't forget their Dylan too. I wish them all the best. I'm Dutch and just wanted to congratulate my favourite actress on a site from Wales, because that's the closest to her. Please forgive me for my English, I know it's not really good. Well anyway, congratulations with all my heart, and I hope we'll hear from her soon. By the way, I forgot to congratulate the rest of the family that just got a grandchild or neice or whatever. Congrats.!" Ianto of Pembrokeshire sends his best wishes to Catherine and Michael: "Congratulations to Catherine and husband on the birth of their second child. I hope they are truly happy and that they children grow up happy and respectful of their parents. I can't wait to see little Carys in Swansea soon, congratualations from all of us here in Eglwyswrw!" Amber is another massive fan of CZJ: "I think Catherine Zeta Jones is a wonderfully talented dancer and has the most incredible voice ever. I was truly blown away by her exceptional talent. Add to that her exceptional acting skills and radiant beauty, she is in my opinion on the the truest, most beautiful, artful actresses today. I truly believe she deserved the BAFTA and the Oscar she received. I'm extremly happy for her and also for the fact she seems to be very happy in life. She certainly worked hard and I'm glad to see it pay off. I wish her and her family the best of luck and happiness in life!" Gill from Pembrokeshire is a fan of Catherine: "Catherine is great! I really appreciated how on the BAFTA she said 'Oggy oggy oggy oi oi oi'. Some people thought it was false, and think she put on the accent. Who cares? She was promoting our country and I'm sure any of us would do the same." Bob of Bryncoch has got back to us on the topic of CZJ: "People seem to have misunderstood the comments I made earlier on this forum. What I was trying to say was that the Welsh media are at fault for their hyperbole about her, I wasn't knocking the fragrant Mrs. Douglas at all. Scroll down and read it again! Again, I reiterate, she's an average actress, but then plenty of less talented actresses have had far better careers. Chwarae teg to the lass, she's much richer than I'll ever be, but she's not the new Princess of Wales."
Katherine from Monkton thinks Catherine deserves success and disagrees with Bob: "I think Bob from Bryncoch is being rather harsh in knocking CZJ. She was never an overnight success and has worked hard to achieve her level of fame. Plenty of actresses leave the UK to seek fame and fortune in the US and do not acknowledge their roots. CZJ was mocked in Wales until she moved to the US after a string of failed romances and records that barely scrapped into the charts."
"Now that she is famous she is still being ridiculed by the likes of Bob. She has never forgotten her Welsh roots and takes every opportunity to thank Swansea for what she has become. Everyone makes mistakes and errors of judgement, namely the Hello magazine fiasco, but that does not mean that she should be frowned upon in the country that she so openly loves."
"No-one has made out that she is a saint, Bob, but that does not make her a sinner either."
Cara of Cairo wishes Catherine luck but is perplexed by her success: "The only really remarkable assets CZJ possesses are her extraordinary beauty and her sticky power. I have always been perplexed at her success across the pond. She is a far from outstanding actress - particularly when you compare her to some of her British contemporaries (Tara Fitzgerald, Samantha Morton, Natasha Little) - though she is a competent dancer and singer. However, I can't help but feel that had she not wed Michael Douglas she would be struggling in Hollywood, or perhaps even sunk without trace as early as 'Entrapment'. Good luck to the girl - she has done well - but I don't rate her at all."
Alexandra of Germany: "I totally agree with Bob from Bryncoch. Catherine is not that special, she was just lucky. I got to know some of her family who are very nice people, but this making Ms. Jones into something like a saint is, frankly, a bit too much."
Martin of Swansea presents a different view of Catherine: "Some might say that her success might outweigh her talents. Being married to one of the most powerful men in Hollywood does not harm her career, even if he is old enough to be her grandfather."Catherine, what first attracted you to the multi millionaire mogul Mr. Douglas?"
Nikki of London is a massive fan of Catherine: "I think she deserved the Bafta. She like every actor/actress worked very hard in Chicago, just look at the dance moves she and the rest of the cast had to do. I'm very happy she got it. This may sound one sided but she is my idol and she has helped me through loads of bad stuff. To see her win was not only great for her but all her fans as well."
Matthew of Swansea has a very firm view on Catherine: "She is a human like the rest of us. She is just more well known that's all."
Simon of London thinks we should all admire Catherine: "I would think every person of Welsh origin should have only admiration for the lovely CZJ. She is right one million ain't that much!"
Rose of Seattle is a fan of Catherine: "Catherine's ambition is admirable alone. Of course she is beautiful, but thankfully in that rare refreshing, non-anorexoric way, which makes her a great role model as well. I'm especially impressed that she has hired a Welsh-speaking nanny for her childen in the interest that they should speak Welsh - which she, by the way, does not. I only wish she would save her sometimes thoughtless and vapid remarks. I was unimpressed when she said that her childen were not destined for college; they were destined for the screen. Acting school is hardly a well-rounded education, Catherine."
Miss G from Florida has this to say: "I have not been 'wowed' by an actress in years. CZJ surely does 'wow' me. If she wins the American Oscar, it would seem she has gotten it all: beauty, M.Douglas, homes galore, great career, children and family etc. and a lot, lot of money."
"I think she's great. The only thing I found disappointing was the remark, 'A million dollars may be a lot to other people, but for us it's chump change - (not a lot of money) - a remark that I do wish she had not made. Having worked very hard all my life, very underpaid, the remark offended me.
"I am happy for her and adore looking at her; there has not been a beauty and class like CZJ since Elizabeth Taylor (unquestionably the queen and most georgeous woman who walked this earth.)
"Anyway I wish CZJ would recant remarks like that; she has more class (I think). And although she 'has it all today' ... it could indeed be lost overnight ... wherein a million dollars would be a lot to her.
"I wish her much happiness; adore her."
Phil from Neath Abbey also disagrees with Bob: "Well Bob, in these days of meagre Welsh achievements it's nice to have someone from Wales doing well. No doubt if Catherine was from Bryncoch they would hold a carnival everytime she visited home."
David Williams in Hong Kong disagrees with Bob: "I think it's such a shame when petty jealousies and negativity arrive on the scene. Those people who are negative about Catherine should look to themselves before casting the first stone. She had the guts to pursue her dream 100%. How many of us can say that? We all have dreams and it seems to be a British disease of being jealous of others achievements. I for one am extremly proud of Catherine. Sure, she may not be the best actress in the world but let's consider her measured path to that BAFTA award. How many British actresses these days make it in Hollywood? Let's be proud of our over achieving sons and daughters whether they come from Cardiff, Swansea, Bryncoch or anywhere else in God's country!"
Bob from Bryncoch is not convinced that Catherine is anything special: "Excuse me for not getting too excited over Catherine Jones' award. The Welsh media seem to have her marked down as the new Princess of Wales...her every banal utterance is treated as wisdom from the gods, and her every visit to Wales is treated like the Second Coming. She's an actress, that's all - no more or no less. "An average actress moves to America, marries an ageing actor who's on a career decline and then gets pregnant a few times...nope, still can't see what's newsworthy in all that. Perhaps if she raises her next kid on the income level of the average South Wales mother, then we'll see what a good role model she is."
Ashley from Florida, USA is a massive fan of Catherine:
"Congratulations to CZJ on her BAFTA win this week. I hope it is just the beginning of a long line of much deserved awards. She is a brilliant actresss and a good role model, and oh so beautiful, to many women and girls alike. Also a big congrats. to her on baby number two!"
Ianto from Eglwyswrw is full of praise following Catherine's BAFTA win:
"In these troubled times it really gives me a lift to see Welsh celebrities doing well in their chosen fields... I'd like to take the chance to congratulate Catherine and her family, and to wish her well in the future. We just don't hear enough about people who do well in this country."
Majenta of the USA wishes Catherine well: "Welcome little star and congratulations to big brother star Dylan!"
Cavan has memories of Catherine when she was a child: "When Catherine was about eight years old she attended the wedding party of my sister-in-law in Swansea. At a mere suggestion she jumped up on a table and danced. (Needless to say the party was in full spirits at the time.) Who could know what success lay ahead. Good luck Catherine."
Rachel from Mumbles has this to say on Catherine's good news: "Congratulations to Catherine and Michael - it's excellent news - just the thing to brighten up a gloomy day."
Pramod says: "Sure I love Catherine , she is just wonderful ... as an actress, as a model and she's so pretty."
