    This site aims to promote Carmarthenshire's rich range of species and habitats - highlighting the conservation work being undertaken in the county by the many organisations that contribute to conserving the county's wildlife.

    The Black Book of Carmarthen
    Part of the 'Digital Mirror', the online archive of the National Library of Wales, this traces the fascinating story of the infamous 'Black Book of Carmarthen', held in the library's collection. So-called because of its association with the Priory of St. John the Evangelist and Teulyddog at Carmarthen, and because the colour of its binding, the book is regarded to be the earliest surviving manuscript written in Welsh.

    The book contains a collection of poetry of various types, with the most remarkable being those with themes and stories concerning the heroes of Dark Age Britain, and especially those connected with the legends of Arthur and Myrddin.     Carmarthen Town
    One of a fleet of community websites recently launched by Carmarthenshire Tourism Development, it's hoped that each town and community in the county will have it's own site in the coming months and years. Managed by locals, these bilingual sites contain a mixture of local notices and useful information, along with guides for tourists, galleries, local history and business listings. Though relatively small at the moment it's planned that these sites will grow as more people come online and contribute to the sites. Visit the news, history or events section.
