It started when i was about two or three when my grandparents used to take me to play on some waste ground by the docks, i'd be running round laughing and playing as a normal 3 year old child odes, then i'd look at the shed on the waste ground and say to my granparents "that wasn't there in the 1950s was it?" no one had ever told me how long this shed had been there for. then as i got older my memories became more vivid, i was a woman called mary, i'm not quite sure where i lived, but it was some where in either Barry south wales or the surronding area. i remeber my husband george, we had 3children who i do not know the names of but i remember one of them, a boy dieing of fluenza when he was about 12. i remember we had curtains with a rip going through them, i made a fuss about it as they were expensive and i dont think we could really afford them so i had made a fuss of them being broken. i hadnt had any of these 'memorys' for about 7 years until today, when i was sat in my RE lesson and my teacher was talking about reincarnation, when i went home and told my mum about who i was before, she said "i know you were alive before, you used to tell me things when you where little love!" id like to find out more about these 'memorys' is there anyway i can?

Re Rebecca's story from 2006 - my mother used to tell me that as a child of 10 she had been taken to Caernarfon Castle, and instantly did not want to go in. She said that she knew every detail of the inside when she was made to go in, describing rooms before she went into them. She never went back.

I, like most of the writers above, also believe that we are reborn time after time until we get it right...only then, are we admitted to heaven. As each of our lives comes to an end, we see an instant replay of all our thoughts and deeds, and have the opportunity to identify our errors, and then try to address them, by choosing where, when, to whom, and how we will be reborn, and what mistakes we will try to correct in our new life, from times past.
I am just sad that I have no recollection of my past lives, because access to them might allow me to reconcile various issues that I have in my present life. I do, however feel a certain unusually strong affinity for certain historical periods, particular parts of certain countries, and likewise, with individuals that I have met and known over the years, as well as close family members.
A previous experience with hypnotism indicates that I would be a poor subject for hypnotic regression, so I suspect that I may have to wait for the rest of my life's path to unfold, before I can come face to face with the lives I strongly believe I have lived before.

I have had a similar experience. I am with a group of soldiers and we are in line but in front of us is a mist about two foot high and on the other side of the mist there are civilians in modern day clothing and we are shouting at them to get clear as there are shells coming down but they can't hear us or see us.
Then we march away. Also I am in a trench just about to go over the top - I am a British soldier - it's so real and the detail is amazing. Strapped to our backpacks are silver triangles that helped the artillery to spot the soldiers. I have had this dream since I was a child and I have been to the Western Front battlefields many times and it feels that I have been there before.

Loved reading all these stories. I particularly feel drawn to a few periods in history, Victorian era, also the 1700's. I particularly feel a strong affinity with WWII and whenever I hear the big band music etc.. and watch documentaries on WW11 I get very upset and cry for no reason. I always thought I was mad but I believe there is something in all this. In this life I feel I can't open up and truly love and give myself 100% to anyone. I think I lost someone back then and in this life I am carrying the pain. Could be fanciful thinking but it's just what I feel inside.

I always have recurring thoughts, dreams, and images in my mind out of this world. I'm sceptical, confused, and not sure what to believe... but in this 'past life' I am a great, powerful, spiritual being with great leadership. This has been recurring since I was very young. Also, I am visited by demonic forces that try to scare me away, but for some reason they always bow to me in fear. I am also visited by angels. What could this mean?

I love Ireland! It's all I think about. I cry when I see pics or shows about Ireland. I spend most of my free time reading about ancient Ireland and the Celtic people. Both sides of my family are from Italy. I have a very sad desire and deep longing to be there. Like I left my heart there, yet never have been out of the US. All the men I ever dated were Irish. All my sons have Irish names I picked. I feel I belong there. Was this a past life?

For one or another reason, maybe a past life as well, as you all above, I get tears in my eyes and a overwhelming feeling of sorrow when confronted with pictures, and even more, music from the WW2 period. I feel also a very strong bond to the German part of the war (and have always spoken both languages very fluently, even though my motherlanguage is Dutch) but also a bond to the American part. Was I an American soldier with German enthusiastic feelings or vice versa... But what I do know is that it is a very big thing in my life. I collect from that period all I can find. Since my girlfriend brought up the possibility of a previous life as a soldier, this idea kept on running in my mind....

Recently my daughter and I were in Maui for the first time. We walked in Haleakala National Park, and up the Seven Sacred Pools. At the top, is a 400-plus foot waterfall. I remember being absolutely overjoyed when I saw it, feeling like I'd "arrived," or come home, like somehow I'd been there before. I'm hoping that when my mom passes, that she is reunited with my dad, somewhere in Hawaii. My dad had strong ties to Hawaii, because he'd just missed being bombed in Pearl Harbour, and lost a lot of comrades. He and his brother were in the South Pacific during WWII. In any event, I'm hoping that my mom and dad's spirits will be with their loved ones, and also that IZ (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole) will be there, serenading!

I too was a soldier in the Great War. I feel a strange facination with the Victorian times and a great feeling of sorrow when I see any thing about WWI. I think I died in 1917 by rifle fire. I have always had a strange conection with 1917 ever since I was a little kid. I know I got mortally wounded and my best friend tried to drag me to safety yet I died along the way... I also think as a young boy I went on a voyage on an ocean liner, you know one of those big ships like the Titanic. When I was like two I would hold up a toy boat and say this is my boat and a sailed around the world in two days.

I believe that I was a soldier from WWII. I cry at the thought of soldiers fighting in that war but no other. I feel like I was a soldier of some description. I dream about situations that are far too detailed to imagine. They aren't dreams about fighting, or army life, but about general life around a house and a family

I have had a few different occasions where I feel I know I'd lived there before. The two most significant are whenever I am in York or North Wales. I feel at home. The first time I was ever in Caernarfon Castle I knew exactly where to go and just knew where things would have been. I actually cried! I've felt that same way in York as well. Just a total sense of Yes, this is where I was, I'm home. Everytime we visit England, we always go to York. I have to. I totally believe in past lifes. It just makes sense. Otherwise we'd all be crazy, eh?

Despite living in St Albans all my life and my real fondness for this city, i have always felt a strong connection to the city of York, for some reason it feels just as comfortable as home. Several things lead me to believe that i was somehow connected to York in a previous life. Both myself and my father have a deep interest in the War of the Roses and both of us have felt strong sympathies towards the Yorkist armies. St Albans itself was witness to not one but two battles during that period. we both feel very strongly for Richard III, and to top it all off my mother is from Yorkshire! Also, my surname is the same as that of a prominent Yorkist family, one member of whom died at Bosworth with Richard III. I am (usually) a sceptical person but i genuinely feel that this can not all be down to coincidence.

I have also experienced stuff like this in my day dreams like the screams of distresed soldiers and the sound of gunfire followed by the screams of dying soldiers. It is really freaky as I see it in 1st person. Then we go over the top and thats when theres a large explosion in front of me and I wake up. Its really scary at some points.:s

From the age of about five I kept having a recurring dream that I was a soldier fighting desperately for my life against hundreds of rampaging Indians. This dream persisted for a few years and was extremely harrowing, I experienced confusion, shock and sheer blinding terror.
I can still vividly remember throwing my gun away after it apparently jammed and seizing the gun of a fellow soldier lying wounded nearby. I can clearly remember clutching the reins of a horse at one point being order to remount, then dismount again in rapid succession.
The strangest and most disturbing part came at the end when I shot my own horse in the head at which point I would invariably awake soaking wet with perspiration.
A couple of years ago I saw a television documentary describing Custer's Last Stand which mentioned how some of his doomed battalion - in those final desperate moments - shot their horses in a vain attempt to form barricades against the advancing Indians.
A couple of people are convinced this constitutes a past life experience. I'm a bit more sceptical - but it does make you think....

As funny as it might sounds, I always have dreams of myself in a battle field then I tried to remember but most of my dreams are war zones and others of me having babies. I went to this guy who told me that I was actually a male in my past life.(A warrior). Then he said the dreams of me having babies is not of actually giving birth but of me trying to reborn!!! Which it makes alot of sense. I'm still trying to see who I was in my past life. As now days I'm in love with a man who is actually going back to Iraq once again in Nov. Now isn't that ironic that I still know how the war and battle fields are when I had never been there in this life time? Weird or something but called Ironic of life it self!

Thats happened, some times when you go to some place u feel like u visted it before or when u do something for the first time u feel like u did it before or when u meet a person u feel like u met this person before, and u think the word before means the first or the second life!!! But thats normal, things come from our imagination!!... It doesnt mean that we lived once before!!

My late mother told me as a child of 6 she went on a outting to Chester from Denbigh which in the 1930s was a big thing. Her family were amazed that she knew all the old streets even by name and where to go. On asking how did she knew all this, she said I used to live here in the 1500s she even described her clothes and the fair that was there at the time.

People find it difficult to believe in 'past lives' because of religious or scientific prejudice. Yet these same people might believe in Creation (where did God come from?)or in the Theory of Evolution (which is a mathematical impossibility).
Unfortunately, Man's brain is too primitive to unravel the mystery of Life. We cannot even conceive of space without end or time which can be dilated by speed and gravity.
However, for those with an open mind, it can now be proved without dought that the 'life spirit' within us is indestructible and is not dependent on 'a skin and bone' body to survive. This 'life spirit' has passed down from body to body since time immemorial but on body death, a 'forgetter implant' destroys any knowledge of 'past lives'. But life threatening incidents of trauma and distress are 'tagged on' from each lifetime and these incidents can be restimulated in one's present lifetme. Many psychosomatic illnesses and irrational behaviour can be traced back to 'past life' incidents. Ashma, for example, has been cured by erasing a 'past life'drowning incident.
What will dismay those with religious beliefs is that research into 'past lives' shows no indication of a Heaven or Hell. However, it can be proved that by undertaking certain procedures, Man can rehabilitate himself to a state of unbelievable abilities free from the prejudice and entrappment that has plagued him throughout history.

I can vouch for a 'past life' experience. A close member of the family became concerned about a persistent pain she had in her chest. She feared that she had a heart problem, but an examination by her doctor and a specialist at the University of Wales Hospital found nothing wrong with her. When the pain was addressed under 'hypnosis', she recounted being a Welsh foot soldier in the Middle Ages and was describing the advance over soggy ground towards an opposing army. She recalled her name, described the green leather jerkin she wore and weapons carried. Suddenly the infantry was hit by a shower of arrows and one hit her in the chest and penetrated her back. She relived the intense pain of the serious injury she suffered (which killed her)but, on awakening, she felt an intense feeling of relief. Her 'present life' chest pain disappeared and has never troubled her since.

How can some of you are so narrow minded? Who are we to say that past lives are an impossibility? Just a century ago you same people would have said flying was impossible. Personally I believe in past lives although I wouldn't dream of condeming anyone who doesn't after all nothing is impossible, we may not be advanced enough to understand it but that's not to say it can't be right, who knows one day we might be able to laugh at those who dismissed the possibility!

I think the most plausible explanation is that yes, we have all had past lives, many hundreds or even thousands of them, it's just that we can only ocassionally remember the previous or another particularly traumatic one - hence the World War 1 threads above. A bit like trying and failing to erase a cassette tape and record something else on it.
We all have lives where we are rich, poor, beautiful, ugly, man, woman, murderer, martyr... all the different experiences there are possible to have on the earth. Our souls incarnate in order to learn again, that we are of God, and by a process of emotional experience, we gradually come to remember our true inheritance - that we are spirit, and not really of the material realm, just here to learn from the karmic laws of the universe.
Interesting also is the idea of group souls, and how groups of people incarnate again together, in various relationships and situations, in order to work out the karma, or unfinished business, between them. What experiences do people have of 'instantly' knowing someone?

I have to say after reading some of these posts I am very interested. I've been looking through the internet and after reading various posts and explanations something struck me. There's 2 things I could link to a possible past life:
The first is I have had dreams and they're the same as normal, then out of nowhere I feel as though I'm physically falling for about 1 second.
When I wake up I immediately think I've fallen out of bed - when I check I'm still in and theres nothing to suggest I fell.
The second is that I'm drawn to a town called Whitby. I have no idea why but I feel really attached to this town, once when I got the train there and the abbey came into view I found myself saying im home, and it wasnt even on my mind so I have no idea where it came from. I definetly want to look more into this, now I need to find a hypnotist who does this in my area.

I must agree and do believe in every above post. As a young child I would describe in great detail of the Battle of Harlech to my Mother and Father. My Dad thought I was insane but later decided maybe I did indeed know what I was talking about. He went to the local library and found info on the Battle of Harlech in Wales. And some of my details were in the books Dad researched. I must admit that my Father and Mother's parent's were both born in Wales. I don't know if this is coincedental or not.
But to this very day I can see the battle in my mind as if it were a movie.

All of my life I had wanted to go to Boston Mass. When I was 19 I went there with a friend. I rented a room in a boarding house that was built turn of the century (1899 - 1901). When I began walking up the stairs I told the woman who was showing me the way, that I knew the floor plan we were about to enter and explained it too her. She laughed and said, "Sorry you're totally wrong." I felt really stupid. A few months later an old man, who had lived in this same house for many years mentioned that it had been gutted and renovated 30 years before. I asked him what the floor plan had been and it was exactly as I'd told the woman.
I had many experiences in Boston that led me to believe that I'd lived another life there. In fact, it was because of these experiences that I embraced the theory of reincarnation.

I was interested to read Richard Jones's account of regression therapy and the discovery that in a previous life he was a WW1 soldier. Past lives tie in with most of the world's major religions and I think many people are given hints about who they were in previous lives from dreams and deja vu experiences.
Without going into too much detail I have no doubt I was also a soldier who died in the Great War. From what I have been told I have been able to discover my name, rank and number, place of birth, have visited my grave in Le Treport, Normandy and have copies of my own birth and death certificates.
I used to be cynical of such things; my first degree was in biological science, my masters in behavioural psychology, neither subject is know for its other-worldliness. I met a person who, within one meeting, told me details of a past life that explained many dreams, childhood fears and feelings. All the research I have done since that meeting has confirmed every single detail I was told. Like Richard I was a soldier in Arras, was wounded in May 1917 and died of wounds two weeks later on my 21st. birthday.
One of these days I will write all this up, if nothing else the research makes a fascinating story.

I don't think we can discount or prove past lives - it's one of those strange things the mind does. Whether it is actually remembering or putting 'memories' in place of it's own accord remains a mystery. Let me explain what a past-life really is.
A past life is a life in which you have lived in, much like how you are living now, except that you are alive in the next life. If you are killed in an accident, mudered, or killed in a war(much like the situation here) you are in the first stage of a spirit,an orb. Then the orb takes form as what you were before you died. Then when your stay on earth is over, you go to heaven. Then you stay there until a baby is developing before the baby is fully developed, God assigns you to the new human. And then a few years after you were born, memories that your soul had in the after-life remembers the second life,so is why this person remembered his past-life.

I really do believe in past lives, when ever I read or see a film about Idaho I feel really homesick, my heart breaks everytime I see the name. I daydream that I was poor and lived along a dirt track and stream and I would love to walk beside the river and dirt track every day barefoot. I can feel the warmth on my body and my eyes water because of the sun shining through the trees, and there is a beautiful smell in the air. A few years ago I was watching a film and I even described the place and when it was shown I was right. A few weeks ago I came across a web site about the Welsh people who settled in Idaho, there were hundreds who settled there including a woman called Mary Jane Daniels who died in the 1800s the spooky thing is ..... my great grandmother's name was Mary-Jane Daniels (my grandmothers mother) who was from the Rhondda Valleys. Although the lady who settled in Idaho wasn't my great grandmother. I would like to think that with all these co-incidences I may well have been Mary-Jane Daniels in my past life.
