Spectre to the Rescue

Andrew tells a spinetingling tale of rescue at sea from a very unusual source...

"A few years ago I was visiting friends in Tenby. Alun had just bought himself a small boat and was keen to go out fishing. I was far from eager but as no-one else wanted to go out with him I volunteered to be his fishing partner."

"We were not far from the shore when a mist came down and very soon it was hard to know where we were. It was really scary but it was important not to panic as there were many rocks about which could quite easily hole us and sink us."

"Hours rolled on and by this time there was no knowing where we were. One hour became two until we were out at sea for a total of eight hours.
"By this time we were sure that the family had called out the Coastguard but there was no sign of help, until a boat appeared out of the mist.
"The sailor seemed to know us and about our predicament but at the time I didn't want to ask questions, I was only too relieved to have been found."

"The boat came alongside and a lone voice called us to catch the line he would throw to us and he would lead us through the mist and to the shore."

"What happened next I am not completely sure of, save to say we were very quickly brought to shore and in our excitement did not notice that the other boat had mysteriously disappeared."

"It seemed to be an incredible story, one which was hard to believe except for the fact that the line was still attached to our boat. We left with no rope on board so it must have come from somewhere."

"Where did the mystery boat come from? Who was the lone sailor? How did he know his way through the fog? What led him to us and why did he vanish without a word back into the mist?"

"There is no doubt in my mind that this was a ghostly figure sent to bring us to safety. All I want to know is who and why?"

A man would have to be some kinda fool to think we're all alone in this universe.

I think that the ghost must have been some one that she knew and that he wanted her to be safe and he cared for her, and that's why he came to help them. Spooky!
