I joined Swansea University after spending my four hectic years of professional life, plus 16 years of academic life in India, left it with a sense that it would be an extremely new joyful experience and Swansea certainly didn't disappoint. I'd never been to Wales before and although the people here come from different backgrounds, cultures, and indeed countries, the most common factor is the friendliness of all the students.

Best part is, Swansea as a city has the combination of leisure, social and nightlife to offer out of all the UK cities. One cannot ignore Mumbles, Gower and the Marina. The local people are fantastic. And if you have time you will never be bored. Swansea university is awesome. I feel I am at home.

Swansea must have the best combination of leisure, social and nightlife to offer out of all the uk cities. The location of Swansea, Mumbles, Gower and West Wales is unbeatable. The local people are fantastic and Swansea is like being on a never-ending holiday, so you don't want to leave, and if you leave you always want to come back.

I loved it so much that after my first year i moved here permenantly. Its amazing having a beach so close and all the people are really cool. But if you come you have to give surfing a go. One go and you'll be hooked for life.

I want to know if I can study part-time and work also in the uk? Is Swansea a suitable city where I can easily work with limited expenses?

For a one year stay (1993-1994) as study fellow in the University-CDS, the Swansea experience is indeed a great one: the beautiful view of the Bay from 7-B Vivian House in Blackpill, the refreshing and peaceful walk along the bay going to the university, or to Mumbles, the friendly and warm people, mixed culture in the university, the cultural shows at Taliesen, the fish and chips, and I wonder if the one peso coin I left in a corner of Osytermouth Castle is still there?

Swansea is the best!I'm in my 3rd year at Swansea so I am currently in France on my year abroad, even though I'm havin a really good time out here I miss Swansea so much. I've meet so many people there and it wont be the same without them! Best advice I can give is make sure you talk to everyone you live with, try to make as many friends as possible and you will never regret going to Swansea UNI!!

I came to Swansea University after spending all my life abroad, most recently I had just spent 4 years in Dubai, leaving it with a sense that it would be an extremely hard act to follow. Swansea certainly didnt dissapoint; I'd never been to Wales before and although the people here come from different backgrounds, cultures, and indeed countries the most common factor is the friendliness of all the students and the beyond the call of duty support received from the Student Union.

While the nightlife in Swansea is undisputedly one of the best I've ever experiences no matter wha! t sort of night out you want, be it a relaxed night out or if you want to properly hit the clubs its all here.

And of course there is the Surfing :D which I highly recommend to everyone be it a beginner or not; There are plenty of different beaches (like the Caswell, Rhossili, and Langland for the more experienced surfers) depending on your experience.

Bottom Line, well deserving of the Times Award.

Stephan Paustian-Bulmer, Swansea uni Aerospace Eni
If you have the possibility to go to Swansea for Uni, then do it. You meet so many new cool people, through your course, accommodation or just simply in pubs, bars or on the road. The campus is great and offers a lot of things to do between lectures. Also the beach is only a 2 minute walk from uni and it's great to go down there with mates. Also Singleton Park joins straight on to uni and is a good place to sit down and relax or play football or cricket in summer during breaks. The night life in Swansea is also brilliant with Student nights Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in town all along Wind Street and Kings Way with the right pub, bar or club for everyone. And not to forget. Tooters every Friday at the uni club DV8, two pound to get in and two pound for two drinks - student prizes. Finally last but not least a few words about my course, Aerospace Engineering: There are so many cool people on the course, you can't even name them all. You have quite a few lectures with all the other engineers together and the course is generally really interesting and offers a lot. But I think it's a course where you have to be absolutly sure that it's the thing you want to do, as it can get quite complicated, if you loose interest and therefore concentration. It's a course for people wanting to aim high and like challenges.

Chris Melvin, Swansea University Materials Enginee
While there is a lot of work with courses the social life is insane. There are so many people all up for going out and having a good time, age barriers are broken down a lot with 2nd and 3rd Years happy to hang around and talk with the lower years. There are so many societies to join its a great experience.
