Varsity games

varsity rugby

Last updated: 07 February 2007

It's not often that you get the chance to paint your face green and white (think Braveheart, but a warmer shade) and battle against your counterparts from Cardiff.

Read on for news on this local derby.

Keep an eye out for events this year such as the Welsh Cup finals and Varsity.

The annual Varsity games between Swansea University and Cardiff University are a major event in the university sporting calendar, and this year will be no exception - it's going to be huge!

This is your chance to get covered in green and white face paints and clothes and support your university varsity teams.

The tournament takes place over one day and sees the 1st teams from Swansea and Cardiff's wide range of sports competing against each other during the day, culminating in a rugby match, with the winners receiving the Victory shield.

Swansea has had much success in the Varsity matches over the ten years it has been running, losing the rugby only twice in 2003 and 2006 and drawing once in 2001.

This year the teams will be working hard to reclaim the Shield, but need everybody's support - come along and be part of it!
