Abereiddy takes a big swell to get it going but it can be great fun when the rest of the coast is maxed out. It provides nice shelter from howling winds and at certain stages of the tide, can produce lovely hollow lefts over on the reef to the left hand side.
It's not really a beginners spot due to the reef but if you know what you're doing, it can be worth a look. You do get a wave over in the middle of the beach as well, breaking over sand but the lefts are generally better.
Due to the drive and isolation of the spot, most surfers don't bother. I've been here on numerous occassions and come away dissapointed but every once in a while it turns it on. It can be tricky justifying it when you're local beach is firing and a lot closer but can make a nice change.
There's parking and toilets here but that's about it. There are nearly always seals here, very LARGE black ones that come pretty close so if you're easily frightened, give it a miss! Nearby is a local cliff jumping spot by the quarry called 'blue pool' for those flat days, but be careful!
