Pembrokeshire Show

Horse and rider at the Pembrokeshire Show

Last updated: 07 August 2008

Quite simply the largest county agricultural show in Wales, it offers something for everyone - whether you are a rural person with a keen interest in country matters or an urban dweller just looking for a good day out.

The 2008 Pembrokeshire County Show will be staged on August 19, 20 and 21 at the showground at Withybush in Haverfordwest.

Attractions will include 'Titan The Robot', Big Pete's Monster Truck Show and Jason Smyth's Adrenaline Stunt Show along with the ever-popular trotting and interhunt relays.

The show always holds a large variety of competitions, demonstrations and exhibitions by groups such as pole climbers, the Welsh axe team, YFC demonstrations, a vintage tractor show including steam engines and more.

Traditional competitions will also be held for cattle, sheep, pigs, angora goats, dairy goats, pygmy goats, horses and cage birds. There will be showjumping, craft, cookery, horticulture, photography events, an open dog show and a three day agility show.

The Milford Haven Town Band returns to the show this year and members will be there on the second day at the bandstand located in the family area. Other attractions include falconry displays, Llanelli Scarlets Summer Camp demonstrations, and much loved 'Quack Pack' sheep, dog, and duck demonstrations.

We moved down to Pembroke Dock three months ago, we went to the show today and it was very good. I've been to the Royal Welsh Show, and I've got to say this is just as good. Well done to all. It is well worth it, thanks to our neighbours who gave us complimentary tickets, as they have a disply there, we will certainly go again, and it was good that there was tarmac which made it easier , as my wife was in a wheelchair.

I've competed in various working hunter and show jumping classes over the years at the county show and the competition is always very strong. Winning a class Pembs County Show is a prestigious event worthy of celebration!

I live in surrey but all my family are welsh. We make it a tradition every year to attend the show, and every year it seems to get better and better. It has a friendly atmosphere unlike any other, and has a strong community feeling. There is something here for everyone, and it is well worth a visit for the day - or all three!
