John Davies told us what went on at the 2005 show:

The 2005 Kidwelly Town Carnival and Airshow took place in Parc Stephens on Saturday 9 July, and we are most grateful to the Royal Air Force who provided many of the main attractions.

The main display was performed by the Red Arrows who were appearing at Kidwelly for their third consecutive year. During the course of the day we were also treated to flying visits (flypasts) by Jaguar and Tornado attack aircraft and an emotional interlude for veterans, with an appearance by the Spitfire of the 'Battle of Britain Memorial Flight'. We were also treated to a display by the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team.

On the ground, the RAF provided a display by its Police Dog Team.

The Carnival Procession around the town was serenaded by the Pontarddulais Town Band who also performed a couple of slots on the Carnival Field during the course of the afternoon. Other attractions on the Field included a Belly Dancing Troupe and demonstration by Llanelli gymnasts. There were lots of Traders' Stalls including the usual 'Foodies' and Fairground rides for the children.

All proceeds from the event are distributed to charity as well as towards the welfare of the citizens and youth of Kidwelly.

Kidwelly carnival is worsening as the years are passing. People are losing interest fast.

I think Ferryside Carnival is much more entertaining and that Kidwelly should take note.

This year's carnival was ok, but I think it's lost it a bit. Maybe they should get some ideas from a younger generation to try and get the carnival back to what it was three years ago when it really was a great day out.

I was carnival Queen a couple of years ago and I found that the carnival was much more entertaining back then...now there are hardly any floats and people are losing interest.

It's very good but there are too many things happening in the day. There is no time just to walk about for there is always something going on. Also the Red Arrow's are starting to get boring. I've attended this carnival since the Red Arrow's started, and for me personally, it is now just boring. I was Carnival Queen attendant in this years Kidwelly Carnival, and I was pleased to see that the float was on the internet.

2 years ago I heard the 'Arrows' were at Kidwelly. The arrows at a sleepy West Wales town - surely not!! Nevertheless I travelled down hoping to see a fantastic air show. And I was not disppointed.

The town picturesque and charming is dominated by the impressive Norman Castle and Church. The arrows were their usual exciting and thrilling best however the stars of the show were the Red Barrows. This trio of wannabee aviators swooped and smoked through their terrestrial manouvres, coloured flares lying in their wake of their Red painted wheel barrows. The local boys were acclaimed by the crowds lining the carnival procession route, bringing a smile to young and old alike - fantastic.

I heard they are coming out of retirement in the 2005 (after taking a year off) bigger and better than before. Can't wait.

Last year I was fishing from the beach unaware that the Carnival was on - I had my own air show above me! I and my family are going to be there this time.

Always a fantastic day out, which seems to get better and better every year. Here's hoping the weather cooperates again! I'm sure everyone remembers last year's almighty downpour which cleared just in time for the Reds' display!

My mum was the project officer for the carnival and it was fun.

The first year the Red Arrows appeared I was working on the roof of Block 4 at Glangwili Hospital and saw only the red, white and blue smoke trails. This year I'm coming and so is the wife, look forward to it. Regards and good luck,Graham.
