"I wanted to do something positive through my music for the residents of "Awel-y-Mor" where they receive expert care and treatment. I left school and studied to become a nursery nurse. I really enjoyed working with children but decided that I wanted to experience working with people from all walks of life."
"Before "Awel-y-Mor" became a brain injury unit it was a residential care home for elerly people. I absolutely loved the caring profession but soon realised that I had an important dream to pursue and that is to share my music with everyone in hope that people relate to the words."
"Music is my life and I write songs all the time, as well as play my guitar everywhere I go. Me and my guitar are like a snail and its shell! I used to play the guitar in work (everywhere I've worked) and that's a lot of different places. I moved to Swansea from Pontarddulais with only one thing in my mind and that was to pursue music as a career."
"Combining charity work and music has been a natural process for me and when enough money is raised through these charity nights I can then concentrate on recording my next CD to raise funds for children with leukhaemia. Its been a challenge bringing all these elements together, recording and producing the CDs, but nothing in comparison to the difficulties these people face every day."
"If anyone out there can help in any way please email me - Nicola Thomas :nickyt_903@hotmail.com. You can also help by purchasing a CD from "The Granary" Health Foods Store where I work in Castle Arcade, Newton Rd, Mumbles for £5, or by donating raffle prizes to the charity in order to win at the fundraising events advertised."
"Or you could simply show up at 'The Uplands Tavern' Swansea, 8pm on Wednesday September 13 to see a fantastic line up of talented singer/songwriters and bands. Some of the residents will be there selling CDs."
"There is another charity night at "The Gwyn Hotel" in Pontarddulais on Friday 27th October(another place where I used to work). The line up for the "Tavern" are "Sera The Whailing Hippy", an excellent singer/songwriter with a very unique style, "Kelly's Angels and, "Swiss FX". The rest of the line-up will be announced closer to the date."
"I will be showcasing my songs (some of which were inspired by the residents of the unit) also on that night. Help the snail along his way so that I can present the gifts to those remarkable people of 'Awel-y-Mor'."
