Historic Pictures of the Track

Last updated: 29 August 2007

Phillip Griffiths worked as a fire marshal at Imola and the first two race schools at Pembrey circuit. Here's some of the pictures he sent us. The first is Ayrton Senna, the second Alain Prost, but what about the third - is it Mauricio Gugelmin?

Richard Francis, Neath
It definitely is Gugelmin with that helmet, in fact on the Duke 1988 F1 review when being interviewed around the German GP he makes reference to a test done in Pembrey.

I'd agree with Nick, it's certainly Gugelmin's helmet.

Nick Beck, Bournemouth
Yup, unless someone's swapped lids, I'd say that's definitely Gugelmin in the last pic.
