"There's a large range of events, many open to the public, that happen at Pembrey these days," says Davies. "Like many circuits around the UK, we have a mixture of track days, testing and public race meetings run by clubs.
"The best resource to see what's coming up, and to see what public events are scheduled, is to go to the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) Pembrey website. Car and motorcycle race meetings happen on weekends throughout the season from the start of spring until autumn, and are run by a range of clubs and organisations."
The range of vehicles engaged in wheel-to-wheel action on-track is huge. Snorting, belching trucks race at fiercely close quarters; valuable classics such as Aston Martins and Jaguars screech and bellow their way round Hatchett's Hairpin; Citroen 2CVs lean and jolt as their drivers struggle to hold on in Honda Curve and low-slung, 150mph Radical sportscars growl and snarl past Sierra Cosworths through Spitfires.
"We test with all top international teams in some high-profile formulae from Monday to Thursday. Examples are Formula 3, Le Mans, GT, A1GP, Formula 3000, World Series Renault and many more. Fridays are general testing for individuals testing their own motorcycles or cars who are competing in that weekend's race meeting."
