Morriston Big Band

  • Artist / Band: Morriston Big Band
  • From: Morriston, Swansea
  • Band members: Full 17 piece dance orchestra with vocalist, saxes, trumpets, trombones and rhythm section.
  • Been going since: November 1995.
  • Where they play: Swansea and West Wales area or further afield depending on the circumstances.
  • Best moment so far: Playing on stage, in concert, at The Grand Theater. Also playing at the Floriade flower festival Holland. This event only takes place every ten years.
  • Style of music and influences: Featuring music from the Big Band Era for dancing or concerts. Swing, latin, modern and so on...
  • Songs they cover: Music of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellinton and many more including modern arrangements.
  • Future plans: Following three very succcessful tour of Holland the band hopes to continue its summer tours with perhaps a visit to Ireland or Belgium.
  • Any other local bands rated: Merlinaires Dance Orchestra.
