Last updated: 11 March 2009

This choir was established to mark a centenary and it's gone from strength to strength ever since.

Bass chorister David T. Elward tells us more about its history.

Cor Afanedd is a mixed choir. It was established in Port Talbot in 1996 to commemorate the centenary of Glan Afan School and it was decided to continue with the choir after their concert in the summer of 1996.

The choir rehearses every Thursday evening in Carmel Chapel (behind Station Road) at 7pm and anyone is welcome to come along to sit and listen or even join in if they so wish to do so.

Over the last twelve and a half years the choir has done a number of concerts locally as well as concerts in Brussels, Ypres Cathedral, The Menin Gate, Bruge (twice) and Rouen.

The choir is under the musical directorship of Arleen Price. The accompanist is Gwenda Phillips and regular guest organist and accompanist Allan Fewster.

Our annual Summer Concert this year is on June 20 at St. Mary's Church, Port Talbot where we are performing Mendelssohns "Hymn of Praise" and supporting music.
