Hello Morriston, I lived in nearby Plasmarl, my friends and I used to walk from Llewellyns Park over to Morriston Park for a swim in the summer. I have spent many a happy time in Morriston - I was born in Morriston Hospital over 60 years ago. I will always have good memories of it.

I was born in Wales and lived on Harry Street in 1970 and went to Petreporth school. I have been back a few times since leaving Wales and still call Wales home. I love the people and countryside and have to agree that the council has let a lot of things go.

I miss so much about being there, too many to list here. I just wanted to connect with a few people and see where my old friends were now, and what they were doing.

We did move to Africa for a few years and have actually met someone here that also lived in Africa at the same time and was from England, it is such a small world at times. If anyone remembers me from back then, i would love to hear from you?

I'm another Brian Morgan, once lived in Plas-y-Coed, Morriston, terrace has gone now. Went to Pentrepoeth School, Martin Street, Swansea Grammar and Bishop Gore, Swansea University. Worked in Dick Barton's as schoolboy after moving to West Cross. I knew another Brian Morgan (might have been Bryan). Morriston was a great place to live - the park and open-air swimming pool - what a special place for a youngster to grow up in.

Morriston is a town of its own - no other like it. I loved the Morriston Fair - the globe had a big merry go round the town came alive. And the park, it's only one street, but what a street. I love coming home and a nice walk up Woodfield St...don't change a thing it's home.

I used to live in nearby Landore in the l960s and used to love to walk into Morriston. It was just a simple child's treat. By the way I think I went to school at Penlan with the Robert Clatworthy on this same list of contributors!(1967-68). I was given some Welsh earth to take with me to Australia by my schoolmates - but foot and mouth and customs soon put paid to that little bottle of soil!

We have a Friends of Morriston Park group ensuring the park has a future and remains open for both visitors and the local residents...

I lived in Chemical Road, next door to my grandparents (Doris and Bernard Lowe). I went to Martin Street School but then my parents moved to Treboeth and I transfered to Brynhyfryd, then on to Penlan. I have very fond memories of Morriston.

I used to own the pet shop in morriston and have very fond memories of the town. I often go 'home' as i still have relatives there, but it's changed so much, and not for the better! the park is poorly managed, if at all, and could be a wonderful area for families. woodfield street is nothing like it used to be, now sadly all down market shops since the enterprise zone was built. where are the councillors and why can't morriston have some money invested in it!?let's make the town one to remember again, after all, it's still home to many people, whether they live there or not.

I am worship leader for Morriston Methodist church and agree with all the comments and would love to see some life back in Morriston, especially in all our churches. At least we [have] now got a Wilkinsons - lets hope it stays and hope to see more things happening in our parks.

I agree with Helen Mudie the pool was a great place. We moved to Clase in August 1964 and spent a lot of time in the pool. I know it was only open in Summer but it was enough. We used to enjoy watching the budgies in the aviary (level with the war memorial) they were later replaced with a mixture of small animals but they also disappeared. The grassed area now seems very waterlogged and the water storage tanks "the mound" is now fenced off I recall sitting at the top with my mates putting the world to rights and years later taking my children kite flying there - they do seem to be building another play area on the old tennis courts but I don't know where that leaves the tennis players. I often see them in the summer.

Morriston is a lovely place to live but wish our council would put life back into the town, there are far too many charity shops and take aways. Also Morriston Park was such a lovely place to play when I was growing up, but the swimming pool has gone, the slide and roundabout have gone and the small park that was up the top has also gone. I miss the park the way it used to be I know my kids would have loved that. I am proud to be a monkey and always will be.

Does anyone rembember my great great uncle Rev David James Jones - Bethania Morriston? He and his wife Blodwen lived in Vicarage Road. David James died in about 1960's while Blodwen died in 1973. David James came from Llanddewi Brefi - Tregaron - I have been to Morriston a few times but unable to get into Bethania to have a look around.

I have vague memories of Morriston in the 60's. I was a young girl living in Skewen and my mother worked as a nurse at Morriston Hospital. Once in a while, she let us hang out with her in the nursing lounge. My Mom turned 80 in August and now lives in West Africa. Even though we left Wales about 40 years ago, she still remembers Morriston Hospital!

I left Morriston in 1980 and we have lived in Australia for the past 27 years. Still love and miss Morriston. I am told it is not the Morriston I left. That hurts me as we had good times when I was a kid growing up. Morriston Park is no longer what we had no swimming pool, tennis, golf, what has gone wrong? I have not been back for 20 years.

Hello Morriston. Just found website and memories came flooding back. I am an unashamed "monkey" and remember parading on Sunday evenings up Woodfield Street. Lived in fish and chip shop on Waun Road. Attended Martin Street school, then Bishop Gore Grammar School.

Morriston would be a whole nicer place, if you did not have shops opening and then closing quite often. Too many hairdressers, and chemists. It should have kept some of its past, a bit like other towns have.

I just love Morriston as a whole although I wish people who have moved into the area loved it as much. It would be nice to see the pavements cleared of broken glass and rubbish. Woodfield Street has so much to offer...lets Celebrate Morriston...As an author of five books on the history of Morriston - I believe Morriston has a future.
