Used to live in Llanelli and still call it home. Lived in Furnace and used to watch the matches through the bedroom window. Wonderful place and sad to think of no more games to be played there for the generations to come.

My most memorable day at Stradey began on the Thursday before the Llanelli - Australia game in November 1992 when Phil May rang me to ask if my son Chris could run out as the mascot for the Scarlets.

He had been unwell for some time and to see him run out to a packed Stradey Park was unforgetable. That was sixteen years ago but it seems like yesterday. Fond memories of a famous ground, sad to leave but the future now is at Parc y Scarlets. Ymlaen Llanelli.

Our memories of Stadey Park Mostly begin when we started taking our son there.

Oliver is a HUGE scarlets fan and entered a competition in our local newspaper to be mascot for them against the Glasgow Warriors in 2005.

This turned into the most fantastic day, not only for Oliver but for us as we were immensely proud of our seven-year-old as he led out the boys.

The whole of the Scarlets team made Oliver feel special that day and these memories have stayed with him.

So much so that as a team Oliver's local rugby team Pembroke Dock Harlequins under 1! 0's have made frequent visits to the park to partake in the half time tag rugby.

No day will be more special than the day the boys were Guard of Honour for Grav when he returned to Stradey after his leg amputation.

The boys stood in awe as the legend walked slowly onto the pitch not long after he was gone forever but Grav who epitomises Stradey Park made their day UNFORGETTABLE!

Vaughan Lewis, Toronto, Canada.

When I was a child my father took me to see his hero, Albert Jenkins, play his final game. I think it was in the late 20's. He wanted me to be able to tell my children "I saw Albert play."

I have four daughters none of whom, being Canadian, could care less. I have long forgotten that historic afternoon but my father kept reminding until he died. My love of rugby continues but I suspect that my father, Collie, is now spinning in his grave knowing that his beloved Stradey is gone.

Anthony Davies of Western Australia

My first visit to the hallowed ground was with my father in 1946, I was six-years-old. I remember the noise of the crowd and Llanelli won.

Probably my best memory was the downing of the "All Blacks" with the Max Boyce song 9-3.

Left the Llanelli area for Newport and Llanwern in 1962, then married in 1967 had two children and in 1982 emigrated to Western Australia, where we still live.

In 1989 my father died, I went back home for the funeral etc, and decided his ashes should be scattered on Stradey Park...

Now we all know the ground is finishing the 129 year history, I saw on the BBC front page (Wales) that there was going to be a closure ceromony on the 21/10/08 so I mailed the chaplin and gave my father's name so that it could be read out on the day.

I told the chaplin that I would do my best to get back for the special day. Since then I have been contacted by a club official about my proposed visit, I only confirmed my visit yesterday. I will be getting to Wales this Monday 20/10/08 for the ceremony on Tuesday evening 21/10/08, and will be attending the last game on Thursday. It should be a bitter sweet return.
