Where Llandovery College is concerned one should not forget the legendary schoolmaster and rugby coach 'Pope' Williams who played scrum half for Oxford University in the 20's with a "flying Scotsmen" International three-quarter line.

Carwyn James coached the 1st XV 'under' Pope...so that my generation in the early 60's had the 'pleasure' of being coached by both...Carwyn on taking the British Lions on their successful NZ tour took a Llandovery College product TG Evans of the London Welsh, Wales and Lions fame along with him...it looks as if two more Llandovarians, Wyn Jones and Powell, will be future Lions...I can't recall other Llandovery Lions but I believe that V.Jenkins was one...Rhys Stephens another?.

In researching the life and paintings of Thomas Prytherch (1864-1926), I notice that the Prytherch's hail from Llandovery. I would be most interested to know if anyone has any further information about the Llandovery Prytherch's (printers/priests.)Many of Prytherch's fine painings are now on display in Cyfarthfa Castle Museum in Merthyr Tydfil.
