Laugharne Tea Dances

Tea Dance Members

Last updated: 25 October 2006

Kitty John of Laugharne talks about the weekly tea dances held at the Millennium Hall.

"Our tea dances began during March 2001 mostly to help raise funds for the new Millennium Hall in Laugharne, and because of our love for dancing. Dances are held every Monday at 2.30 pm. I myself run the the dancing and provide the music. My good friends Elsie Pearce and Clem Humphries make the tea and put out the biscuits. Dancers help with the washing up!

We get people from Laugharne, Carmarthen, Haverfordwest, Begelly, Amroth, St. Clears and Saundersfoot.

We dance ballroom, Latin American, sequence, line dance and party dance. The age range is from 50 to 92. Mr Cameron is 92 and we wish him well, as he had just had an operation.

We are like a big family - last year a group of 16 of us went to Portugal, and this year we are going on a cruise around the Canary Islands over Xmas and New Year. Members of the dance club say it's the best thing that has happened to them".
