Extra programmes on BBC 2W

St David's Cathedral in the snow The BBC Wales series, narrated by Huw Edwards, looks at a county which, over centuries, has charmed generations of inhabitants and visitors alike.

Alongside the main series, there are special additional ten-minute programmes made for digital channel BBC 2W.

Here's what each additional programme looks at:

  • 1: Saints & Stones
Pembrokeshire stoneNo series on Pembrokeshire would be complete without a look at St David's cathedral. We begin with a profile of Dean Wyn Evans - both in his day job as Dean as well as looking at the origins of the cathedral building, the wonderful blue stone, and its saints.

  • 2: The Man from Angel Monutain
Brian JohnFew people know the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path better than Brian John. Carn Ingli is the setting for Brian's sequence of novels about a young woman's life in 19th century Pembrokeshire. In this programme we follow the life of Brian on the coastal path and through his novels.

  • 3: Mounting Pressure
The Vaughan family live high on the hillside of the Gwaun Valley. This is a harsh existence. The strain of the family farm has taken its toll on Dilwyn Vaughan's health. Now the farmer has taken on the traditional female role in caring for his granddaughter and doing the catering for their tea shop and gardens. The land cannot keep his two sons on the farm, so his youngest is now a National Park Ranger.

  • 4: Selling Landscape
House overlooking Porthclais harvourBusinessman John Price has created a successful business empire in St Davids. He combines the seasonal work of boat trips around the coast with boat and house building, and even selling houses, opening the first estate agents in St Davids itself.

  • 5: Three Sisters
Ffion ReesBrian Llewellyn is determined to sustain a way of life that is fast diminishing - this way of life he describes as one of local people speaking a local language, and local girls marrying local boys. In order to maintain his dream, he has ensured his three daughters each run a successful business within the families locality, the Preseli Hills in North Pembrokeshire.

  • 6: Against the Flow
Pembrokeshire sunsetA profile of life on and around Ramsey Island, off the coast of Pembrokeshire. Derek Rees is a postman, shepherd, maintenance man, and feels most at home when the soil of Ramsey is under his feet.
