They are very nice pictures taken. I visited the abbey today and was fascinated. I was shocked at how big it must have been when it was first built. I actually took a load of pictures myself on my mobile phone. They are not as good as yours though. I would be very interested in seeing pictures of what it looked like then.

We will visit Neath in 2010 re family history, Charles Struve Price was my great, great grandfather. Charles resided at Chigwell House near Hobart from 1906 until his death in 1915. I have pics of the original stone house to add to the archives in Wales.

Thankyou Jane. Living in NZ I have never been to Wales and seen where my Gr Grandfather William James was born...His grandparents were Rees James and Ann (Manuel) his father and mother Thomas and Mary (King). The men were all patternmakers and engineers. William married in NZ in 1878 to a Mary Jane Campbell from Jamaica and was a marine engineer.

I am related to Charles Struve Price of Neath Abbey whose grave site I located in Hobart, Tasmania. One day i hope to visit Wales and see where my family root came from.

There are many beautiful views in the Neath area. It's good to see such good photographs doing justice to them.

I love Neath Abbey. Jane's photos really do it justice. Unfortunately, I also know that some youngsters also love the challenge of getting in at night and using it as a playground. Hopefully, Jane's photos will raise awareness of this historic jewel and security will increase before irreparable damage is done.
