Sounds of Wales

Crowd at sports event Radio Wales have been around Wales collecting the sounds that people nominated as representing Wales today. But we're still after your nominations here - what will yours be?

It could be a band, the sound of your local football or rugby crowd, the last play-time at a school about to close, the sounds of the coast or country?

Went to a concert last Saturday at Burry Port organised by Cefn Sidan Rotary Club.Absolutely fantastic. The Pontardulais Male Voice Choir - National Eisteddfod winners, Tammy Davies (Burry Port), Eirlys Davies (Trimsaran) National Eisteddfod, Gary Griffiths (Pembrey) BBC Young Singer of the Year and John Owen Jones (Burry Port) 1400 performances in the title role of The Phantom of the Opera and Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. All local, all brilliant. Thanks to all involved.

The sound of the singing at a big Welsh funeral is one of the most wonderfully awe-inspiring sounds in the world.

Nothing beats the sound of Welsh people singing the national anthem in the millenium stadium during the six nations. That is truly the best for me!!!!!

The Welsh National Athem as always been the sound of wales for meny people but until you have heard it performed by, Darry Ryl Robertson. The lead guitarist from the band 4th Street Traffic of Bargoed you havent lived. I know there are a lot of great guitar players in wales but believe me when i say this kid is something really special. I have been lucky enough to see him perform the welsh national anthem three times everybody standing and you can feel the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end. It is the equivalent of Jimi Hendrix at WoodStock it is so uplifting and makes you proud to be WELSH!

My birthday is on St David Day and when I was in school I thought that having a concert in the morning and a half day off school was because it was my birthday.I hasten to add that it was during my time in the infant school.

From Primary School and all the way through Secondary School on St Davids Day we had to attend St Davids Service in the Cathedral. What I remember most is the excited chatter we'd have on the way back to school, as it usually meant we would have Cawl, Cheese and Bread, with an extra long playtime afterwards!
