The Four Winds, Aberavon Seafront. The entertainment there is wicked and they are putting on a musical "A Slice of Saturday Night" set in the 1960's on the 5th June [2009], and including a basket meal - where can you go for such entertainment for so little. I had lunch there last week with a pint and it was brilliant.

The best pub in Wales, for its character, the locals and the best pint has without doubt got to be the Cockett Inn in Swansea.

The Artramont Arms in Croes-Goch is superb, excellent food, excellent beer! Makes one big thing, excellent pub, and new owner (Dave and Jan Evans) and their children are nice (Gareth and Thomas Evans) and the youngest is cute (Lloyd Evans) and he's only 11 and he helps out with the washing up!

It's got to be the Nags Head in Abercych. Really friendly staff and home-cooked food at reasonable prices. Lovely beers, ciders and lagers. Friendly locals and interesting visitors. Try it, you will love it. Chiefy is a master chef.

Without a doubt the Tanners Arms Carmarthen..I've not been home for a while, but since Mike left The Plume of Feathers the best pub in town. Unfortunately, not many tidy pubs in town where you still have 'the craic' with lots of local characters. Pop in and have a chat with John and Sue, really nice hosts. Not forgetting Keith Sara and the rest of the locals! Won't be there long due to redevelopment so make your visit soon! Cheers!

The Tunnel Tavern in Neath. New young owners keep a cracking pint - even got real Somerset Scrumpi on for one and half quid - bargain. Karaoke is a top laugh with the landlady getting up with the regulars. Made to feel very welcome and will be going back!

The Three Mariners, Tenby is one of the friendliest, liveliest pubs in Wales. Has been mentioned earlier by a Yank I think - but definitely agree. Great landlord - he's got fantatstic sense of humour (needs one running a pub !)

I must comment here on The Wheatsheaf in the Bont. What a friendly and warm welcome to all. The beer is always cold, bar staff are so lovely, and the answer is always 'yes'. No food -which is great as u don't smell that oil whilst having a drink. Plenty of tvs too so everyone can watch what they want. Landlord and landlady are brilliant company. Thank you Anthony and Wendy for giving us another great year at a great pub.

My favourite pub is the Uplands Tavern in Uplands - Swansea - fastastic atmosphere, great live bands nearly every night and best of all no sport! Would be ace if they did food but you can't have it all I spose! The Adelphi on Wind St is also fab for music and good beer. Special mention also goes to The Gate House iin Cwmbwrla in Swansea - friendly welcomiing atmosphere and excellent beer.

The Jersey Arms Bonymaen, Swansea is the number one pub for me. I found the pub by accident and what a find. Very classy deco, Sunday roast was just outstanding. The warm welcome that we all recieved was second to none, which resulted in us all staying there for the rest of the evening. The enterain was great, starting with a game of Bullseye, great cash prizes to be won and following that was karaoke starting with the Landlady Carla singing and I've got to say "what a voice !" fab. I would recommend that you all visit. Great music, jammed packed with entertainment, fab food and warm welcome.

4 of us stopped in Margam on the way to Pembroke looking for a place for the evening. The Twelve Knights turned out to be a fantastic find. Staff was great, rooms very comfortable, food was excellent (especially the beef pie), and the Welsh people we met were really friendly. After sampling several pints around Britain, Brains SA is, hands down, the best I had in all of the UK.

The best night out I've had in a long time was down Tenby. The people are so friendly and pubs are very lively. We went to 3 mariners 2 years ago and just so happened that the doormen were doing the full monty. Let's say it was a night to remember! I've got two guys who work in the Tenby house are worth paying a visit too!

I would like to say that I and my partner always get a warm welcome at the Hope and Anchor in Neath Abbey. Neil the landlord and his good wife Bev do thier upmost to ensure you have a good time! The house red is a treat for any wine enthusiast and if your a culture buff, you cannot miss the foreign language features shown on most weekends. A warm welcome awaits you so why not visit, you may even bump into me there!

Angharad Roche- formerly of Tufton, now living in
No, it's quite true that the Hope & Anchor isn't what it used to be- it's now a quality contemporary, eatery of high standard. The design and outlay of the Inn is second to none (winner of the Civic Socity's award for architectural design) and the food's top notch too! Call me biased perhaps but I think that it's a tidy place and is not dissimilar to some of the class joints that are to be found down in Cardiff Bay- bring on Fishguard Marina!!

Our favourite pub is the Dulais Rock in Aberdualis. The food is excellent. The menu at lunch time and in the evening is varied and changes regularly. The interior is really relaxing and the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them, and last but not least a great selection of wine.

The Hope & Anchor Inn in Goodwick is THE nicest pub we visited in Pembrokeshire! The place has recently been tastefully transformed from what was once, apparantly, a hard man's drinking pub into a haven of nautical modernity suitable for all people of all ages. When we dined there we were amisdst tourists and local characters alike, young couples and a rugby tour from the Valley's. Angharad, the most talkative barmaid I think I've ever met, made us feel very welcome and a smashing night was had by all. A selection of beers and wines were on offer, including SA Brains real ale. The food was really well done, I had fried Welsh cheeses, lobster and the most calorie laden chocolate cake I have ever tasted- it was all delicious. AND, to top it all, there was no smoking allowed which, for me, was awesome. The decor of the pub was, without doubt, the best in the area, there were two restaurants on different levels, a cute little wine bar and, an al fresco sea-view balcony where the nicotine slaves among us could chill out and inhale as much sea air/malborough lights as they liked. Seriously, if you're in Pembrokeshire- give it a try!

I enjoy pubs, and being a pub fanatic, I have decided that there isn't one that I can single out, because all the pubs in Port Talbot are great. As long as they've got pool tables, so I can show off to the girls. I like a good pint of stout, and I haven't had a bad one yet in Port Talbot!

My best mate was off lolly-gaggin' in Australia when I decided to visit his family in Wales. It was my first time in Wales. Though I loved Cardiff, I had the greatest time in Tenby (Penally) all by myself walking around, visiting the shops and a little place called The Three Mariners. The atmosphere was very cozy; the people were absolutely the greatest - warm, friendly and eager to point out places I should see....I didn't feel like a stranger at all. I was astonished to learn the barkeeps don't get tipped. It's something we do in America, so I tipped. When you've gotten serviced like at the Three Mariners, you tip. I love Wales!

You can't beat the Royal Oak in Fishguard, Pembs, Wales. The staff there were fantastic to us over the summer 05, funny warm and friendly (special mention to Manda... one of the best barmaids we've ever come across!!). Great food (Puddings to die for!!!), live music, quizzes... Something for everyone! If you ever find yourself in Fishguard, you won't go far wrong paying this little pub a visit!!

Whilst visiting Port Talbot, I went into a pub called Jimmy's Bar. I wasn't too sure what to expect, but once I set foot in there, I knew I was in for a treat! Warm welcome from the well presented staff, the most refreshing pint of lager I've had in ages, and a challenging game of pool from the house champion!! Only one complaint though- I didn't have time to stay for a second pint.....

There is only one pub worthy of the name local in South Wales ...The Birchgrove Inn in Heol Las, Swansea. Although I'm exiled in the states on my return visits to Wales, the 'Birch' is my first port of call. It is not just a pub it's a community centre for the village. It's a place where the world is put to rights over a couple of pints of best bitter. Where everybody knows everybody and all their family. Where strangers are someone who you haven't met yet. A real pub!

While I agree that Reuben's in Port Talbot is an exceptional establishment, I am nominating The Red Lion in Port Talbot. This place is remarkable. The beer is of significant quality, yet it is easy on the pocket. There is a warm and inviting atmosphere to all customers, and there's always a welcoming smile from the superb bar staff. Try some of the wide range of crisps and nuts, or some of the other local delicacies. It is impossible to say in words what a fabulous place The Red Lion is, so when you are in the area, why not drop in, and sample for yourselves the hottest venue in town.

What are you all thinking?!? Nobody has mentioned the hottest venue in South Wales! Reubens is a delightful little pub, situated on the banks of the River Afan in Port Talbot. There are picturesque views of the shopping centre, which is a sight to behold. The beer is simply marvellous, the juke box has something for everyone, and the customers are polite and welcoming. Give Reubens a try - you won't be disappointed and that's a Reubens's guarentee...

Ryan Davies Pembrokeshire
Well the 'Sloop Inn' in Porthgain (Pembrokeshire)has one of the best locations in Wales. With ample parking and beautiful coast paths scrambling up both sideS ,this little village, it's a perfect place to stop for a drink or even a bite to eat in 'The Shed'. Porthgain is not a small trip you can make a day of visiting this little harbour village has many things to offer including; a little studio gallery which is very charming, and another gallery by the quay 'Harbour Lights Gallery' which exhibits over 40 different extremly talented artists and is just overwhelming and just finishes off the perfect day after a boat trip with Rob fishing/dolphing watching which is a must do........

Mark from Uplands RFC
Swansea Uplands Rugby Club is the best place to drink in Swansea, looking out on two glorious rugby pitches watching Barbarian style rugby matches on a Saturday afternoon with some of the best rugby talent on display in Wales, drinking a pint of ice cold lager. Why not give the friendly atmosphere a try and if you play rugby get down there on Tuesday and Thursday for training throughout the summer.

The Poundffald in Three Crosses is a must for anyone visiting Gower; it's how village pubs should be (if you ignore the stuffed animals encased on the wall!).
Sat May 22 22:37:28 2004
Mr Jones, Swansea
Curiously, my favourite drinking establishments are pretty much all featured along the mumbles mile. However, seldom do i manage to visit them all! I will say this though... the pubs on this mile are one of the few places i've visited in this world of ours, where the actual toilets are bigger than the actual function rooms.

Fri Apr 16 17:48:50 2004
Pwll Girl, Not in Pwll Now
Pwll has always had some great pubs, the Blue Anchor and the Talbot Inn are both lovely but best of all is the Colliers Arms. Lovely atmosphere, very good food (and when they're not serving they'll organise a delivery from the chinese or the indian in town, whichever you prefer). A word about the barstaff - Big Pete is a star, he is also doing really good things for the village by editing the Bonau Cabbage Patch. All the people are lovely, no swearing, no fights, you can probably bring the kids in (check with Pete first). If you want a really nice, very authentic Welsh pub experience come to the Colliers. There's even a beautiful view across the water to the gower. I can't rate it high enough. It makes me yearn for home....

The best pub in my area by far is the Castle Inn in Llansteffan. They serve the best curries there and the bar staff always put a smile on my face. They also have seperate smoking and non smoking areas for families. Near a bear too, well worth it for a perfect finish to a family day out!
