Annette Strauch
Cadair Idris - my favourite Welsh mountain, also the Glyders.

Merel from Holland
We have no mountains where I am from, so I like to hike and bike while I am in the hills of Wales. I go in the summers when it is warm, because I don't like the way it rains sideways in Wales. Though the rainbow looks nice when there is much wind. In Holland we also have much wind because it is flat. That is why I am used to it and like to cycle downhill. I love the mountains!

Drummau Mountain between Skewen and Birchgrove is marverlous, with it's grand combination of woodland and open fields and wildlife on the top, the view just tops it all off, a great mountain!

Caroline Evans from Gwernogle, Brechfa Forest
The top of Mynydd Llanllwni - open panoramic vista, undisturbed, quiet, magic - the day to day world is far away. A place for contemplation and cleansing of the soul.

I love the Brecon Beacon Mountains (as well as their sheep and wild horses). It's just a very beautiful area of Wales where my cousins live.

My family (on my dad's side) were all shepherds who farmed in Gwynfe...we have traced them back to the 1600's. I was born in London, however, I, along with my son am fluent Welsh speaking (thanks to my parents). I have always wondered where I got my love for farming! I am lucky to be living in Mumbles now, however, my heart lies within the misty and dark depths of the Beacons... the place has a magic about it... just amazing isn't it.

I lived in Gwynfe many years ago, fantastic place. My best place in the mountains was at The Cuckoo Bend on the Black Mountain overlooking Gwynfe. So peaceful and beautiful. Regards to Beryl Davies at LLwynbrain Farm and to Hugh at Daffadfa Uchaf.

Steve Spencer, Gosport
The Vole, Port Talbot, 3 hours to climb to the top, fantastic views. Got bitten by an adder on the way back down, sorted me out is hospital. Nicest nurses outside of Gosport.

The Afan Valley, right from Port Talbot to Treorchy and beyond. Amazing scenery, trails and wildlife! Also the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains - we're just plain lucky in such a small country to have such a wealth of natural beauty.

The Brecon Beacons are stunning. When my husband and I were courting (almost 20 years ago now) we'd spend many an hour walking there. Now we are married with 2 sons we like to go there in the summer with them and take a picnic. It's unspoiled there and it's as close to nature as you can ever get.

Rosemary Moore, London (25% Welsh!)
Has to be Snowdonia for me!! I've been up Snowdon 3 times using 6 different paths and the whole mountain of Snowdon is fantastic!! Also Tryfan is awesome! But also the way Aran Fawddwy near Bala towers over the flatter land around it.... Wonderful!
Mon Feb 2 22:35:18 2004

Matt, Bristol
The Preselis: Ok I'm biased being a Pembrokeshire lad, but on the way home you see the Preseli's when your close the end of our trip to escape to Pembrokeshire. They dominate the landscape county-wide and the drives and views are awesome ... the journey to Pentre Ifan says it all for me!
