The Hideout is an internet café in Port Talbot, Wales. Here in The Hideout there are many activities going on each day all with an educational purpose which is really fun!
People come in The Hideout on a daily basis where they can do activities with other young people and enjoy themselves. Computers are available to the public from the ages of 11-21.
On Fridays workshops happen, where mentors come in and teach us of world peace, world trade, Third world countries etc...!
Carla has been a member for two years (since it started) and is a young person representative for The Hideout. And I have been a member for approximately one year and we have both had some memorable experienced times as the staff and other young people will say.
Adam our "favourite worker" (he told us to say that) is cool! Chris, Mark, Zoee, Nigel and Rebecca
are all workers here. Volunteers are Sian and Laura who don't work here for money and have been nominated for a Millennium Award for their work!
People here are so dedicated. In the summer we went on
trips to great places like the Black Mountains, waterfall walks up Glyn-Neath, the Afan Forest School up Afan Argoed where we built houses made of wood and fern leaves. All the people had such a great time we just want to thank The Hideout in this article for providing us with activities, fun things to do and education four days a week.
And before we go we just want to say thank you!

The hideout is proud to launch its new digilab that, thanks to its partnership with the RNIB is now fully accessible to blind and visually impaired young people aged 11-24.
The Hideout will be the first young people’s centre in Wales to become fully accessible to young people and volunteers who are blind or have visual impairments.
We are working in partnership with the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) and we have recently received funding from the welsh assembly to purchase specialist equipment.
The project will be launched by Brian Gibbons, the Welsh Assembly Minister for Aberavon on Friday 14th July 2006! .
